Oh no, a tailpiece conversation!

So I was struggling with my setup forever… couldn’t get action to feel right without bends fretting out, etc. Out of frustration I started playing another guitar.

But I had an epiphany… I’d been keeping the tailpiece decked because I dunno “sustain”… but I raised it to have about the same break angle as the bridge, set action about the same low to high… (like a fender)… and suddenly it plays amazing!

Anyone have this experience? What explains it?

Falling in love with Lucifer on the Sofa

When it first came out I was like "oh new Spoon record, cool..." but since they've been touring and I've been diving into them again, I'm spending more time with it. It really speaks to the moment and has a strong emotional arc that I think puts it among their best. You really *feel* it, yknow?

The Smog tune sets the tone, Hardest Cut is just so clever, and then Mr. Jones is like this dark song about the dystopian vibe we're living through, with the rest of the album being about like coping with that, or with the last track, maybe failing to. It speaks to me.

Anyone ever notice “I Saw The Light” is like She’s So Heavy, but backwards?

The way it goes from 6/8 to 4/4, and has this long chromatic thing. I think they might’ve been going for a nod.

Not even stoned. Just been listening to a lot of Spoon. haha

Day 2 : this is rough!

My goal is to switch to patches. Before I started Zyn, they were more than enough…. but now even with one on I’m fiending and mood swinging. Got some 4mg gum for my sanity. I want off that zyn roller coaster though.

I’ve been converted

I’ve been playing an SG with my band for years. It’s fun for classic rock vibes, but god am I constantly tinkering with the setup.

This past weekend my band played a show opening for some pro acts, and I saw so many Teles. My buddy in the other opener had just bought one / it felt amazing. Then one of the headliners took a solo on a Tele that absolutely changed me. It had so much *feeling*!

Well I had this thinline that had been gathering dust. I gave it new strings, tightened the truss rod a bit, etc… and my god, I just can’t stop playing it. I feel like it’s just so damn *musical*… I don’t know how to describe it.

Anyway… I’ve got the bug. I think I’m a Tele guy for life now.
