Fitting Tradition for Syrian culture (custom)

As Wallada Umayyad (in 1066) I settled in Damascus and created a custom Syrian culture (split up from mahsriqui).

now I’m looking for advice on a new tradition.

I want to play a mix of tall and wide, making damascus more developed than Bagdad and also trying to (eventually) expand as much as the actual Umayyad Caliphate.

I was thinking of maybe industrious or the one that makes it easier to rule foreign culture (the one that the Normans have)

and I already have the one that gives you a gardener

Becoming Byzantine Emperor as Sultan of Rum

I’m playing as Rum and basically want to make the ottoman empire.

However I’m on console and on Iron mode, so I can’t change the titles coas or colour.

So I would like to know if the coa changes if I’m of turkish heritage or not, because then I would create a custom empire

Landless —> conquerer (Sultanate of Rum)

I want to play as Suleyman (Seljuk) in 1066 and form the sultanate of Rum. (In one life)

The problem is I have no clue how to play landless.

What I would have done is to get the conquerer decision, by focussing on martial and getting involved in wars.

However, I have no clue if this is the best way to do it or if i should try to get landed earlier (which I also have no clue of) and I don’t really want to loose my special troops before fighting the byzantines.

I would be happy for suggestions, possibly even specific for the character/situation, as this start is quite common I suppose.

Thank you in advance!

Typo in Africa’s title history?

Noticed that Abdallah I of the Aghlabid “Sultanate” was spelled ADBallah instead of ABDallah.
The Wikipedia page says it is correct with BD, and I didn’t find any evidence that this is some sort of regional variant.

Probably just a typo, but would be cool if it was fixed

And yes I didn’t make a screenshot, reddit lords

4th crusade not triggering

I have played multiple games starting in 1178 and never once got the splintered crusade. I always have the setting on “4th crusade”.

The catholics usually win the 3rd one against Saladin, and then nothing really happens

And yet the event never took place and Idk what to do.

I’m on console too if that makes a difference

Anyone else experiencing a lot of lagging since the update?

I have only started one campaign as Byzantium in 1178, and after 100 years it’s getting very laggy. Idk if the new start date is too much, or the theme system of an enlarged realm is too much for my console.

Or it’s my army of about 80k troops

Stop administrative vassals from expanding

Is it correct that there is no way to stop your administrative vassals from expanding outwards?

I want to have clean borders but they keep fucking it up

Overview of Byzantine families

Does anyone have a clue where you can see this overview of different noble families in the realm, where it shows which ones are powerful?

I have no idea where to find that

What RTP byzantine starte should I do first?

The above, I’m super hyped to finally play as byzantium (haven’t touched it ever). But I don’t know where to start (a longer campaign)

Obviously the new start date is exciting, and I think they have added these like flavoured starts for different strategos in 1178

I have no clue about administrative so I wondered if playing the first game in 1178 would be good considering all hell is going to break lose in the byzantines

Does the coat of arms of the North Sea Empire for some reason not change depending on what kingdom is your primary one?
There is a post showing the 3 different types, from England, Norway and Denmark

But after I formed the Empire with Norway as my main title, the Empires coas was the yellow one you would get from Denmark

I’m an unreformed Asatru btw, if that’s important because norway coat of arms is different depending on faith

Is this one of the annoying cases in which console just doesnt have that?

Idk if it’s a bug, but whenever I win a battle and afterwards look at how much prestige it earned me, I notice that I appearntly hadn’t actually got it even though the battle review thing says so

I was just thinking about what new decisions (others than the ones tight to the DLC-Content, like Byzantium) will be introduced with the update.

Here are some I think are to added

  1. Vasconia

  2. France/Aquitaine as one

  3. Something like refusing the HRE crown?

Let me know if you know of any others
