Gender Disappointment

I’ve seen post about gender disappointment and never really understood it until now. I’ve always dreamed of having a little boy, but just found I am having a little girl. Now the confusing part of it all is I am so excited to have a little girl, but there’s this huge part of me who is extremely heart broken. The love I have for my child has not changed (if anything it’s grown stronger). I am so thrilled about having this little girl… but I don’t know how to be a girl mom. I myself am not a girlie girl. I grew up with all boys my entire life and never really found interest in all of the girlie activities growing up. Even now with my nieces, I don’t really enjoy any of that stuff. However, I don’t want that mindset because despite sounding not excited in this post — I am beyond excited. I just want to be a good mom especially a good girl mom, and just want to get out the gutter of gender disappointment. It’s making me feel I am ungrateful for this little one but I’m not. I’m just slightly disappointed.
