It could be something that made your journey easier than expected or maybe something that made it more challenging than you thought it would be!

For me, I wish I knew that the meat cravings would subside relatively quickly. For some reason, I believed that a year in, I'd still be craving chicken all the time. But once I started getting those nutrients from other sources, I stopped craving them. Sometimes I crave nuggets or a burger, but nowadays, the veggie versions fulfill that craving just as well.

For something that's made it harder, I wish I knew how many random products contained meat-based rennet, stock, or gelatin. A lot of my early oopsies were due to eating foods that I didn't realize contained meat products.

Hey friends, just wanted to share some stuff I've been going through and possibly get some advice. I'm (23) an atheist and was raised by atheist parents. I have absolutely zero interest in learning about any religion. My childhood best friend (23) was raised christian but her dad is an atheist, and she aligned more with him during her childhood. However, she started dating a christian guy a couple of years ago and "found god," got baptized, started going to church every week, the whole thing.

I'm queer, non-binary, and a feminist, so when she told me about this, I was immediately worried, but obviously wanted to give her a chance because some people are chill about it. However, it really has gotten weird. I saw her over the weekend, and she kept talking about how awesome her lutheran church is, shared some very misogynistic views with me about how women shouldn't work (she knows I love my career), and she and her partner made a lot of jokes about how my partner and I (together 5 years) should get married, even though we are both against marriage. She used to be much more progressive than this, and I feel like I can't share my opinions or struggles anymore.

It's funny because she is still non-traditional in many ways. She and her now fiancé are living together unmarried, she works and has a degree, she drinks/smokes weed, swears, etc. We're not American, so they're not red hat people or anything like that. She claims to still support LGBTQ rights, science, and all that. She hasn't said anything outright about what I should or shouldn't do, but a lot of her jokes and comments suggest that our values no longer align.

Does anyone have any advice on how to kindly shut down the conversation about religion in an attempt to save the friendship? Is it even worth attempting to save the friendship? I'd even enjoy it if anyone could share similar stories so I feel a little less alone.

Hey folks! I'm graduating this spring with my BA (yay) and going to pick up my cap and gown this week. I was pretty excited that we got to keep the caps. I've seen a lot of people online who decorate their grad caps, and I was thinking of doing the same because I love that kind of stuff. However, I was wondering if that's even a thing at MacEwan or if it's more of an American thing.

I wouldn't mind standing out if it's uncommon, but I don't want to accidentally break any unspoken rules or any actual school policies (I tried looking but found nothing).

I'm thinking of just doing something simple. My major, my grad year, and maybe something else simple. Nothing crazy or 3D. If it wouldn't be appropriate to do it for the actual grad, I'll probably decorate it after as a keepsake.
