35 y/o, married for 3.5 years, been loudly CF since my early 20s. Recently, my dad surprised me. For context my parents are super Catholic and Mexican.

This Mother’s Day we were out with the whole family for brunch- I was enjoying time with my nephews who I’m particularly cuddly with. The server asked if any of them were mine, I politely said no I’m just their aunt. The server proceeded to ask, “you plan on any of your own?” I was taken a back and made a face- before I could answer my dad proudly answered, “No, she’s focused on her career!” Server just said “oh” and proceeded to change the conversation completely before taking our order 😂

Felt amazing to hear an elder loved one speak up for me as it validates my choice and hard efforts even if he doesn’t inherently agree with my choice. My mom’s a different story but maybe one day she’ll come around one day.
