Coworkers cake

We’re doing a baking completion at work and my coworker has brought in this cake twice now. He calls it “wafer cake” and says that it’s Puerto Rican but won’t give us any other info. It’s tastes amazing and we’re all obsessed with it, but I have no idea what it is or what’s in there. There’s definitely walnuts and chocolate chips, and it reminds me of banana bread. It might just be that haha but curios what others think

Sub selection

I’m hoping to pick up a sub soon with some major caveats. Looking for advice.

My room is 1800 cubic feet and the AVR is a Denon 1900. Going for a 3.1 set up with kefs for LRC.

Full disclosure: I live in an apartment building with fairly chill neighbors. I’m planning to treat this as a bit of an experiment and see what noise levels are acceptable if any. I’ll look into buying a subwoofer stand/sound pad/feet to help with that.

I think I’m leaning towards SVS PB 2000 and I found one for a good deal on FB market. I see it gets good marks on the sub. Would this work for my space/living situation? Would the 1000 be a better fit, or should I scale down more and look for a micro sub? I know HSU and Rhythmik get a lot of love on this sub, but I plan to make most of my purchases at crutchfield and I don’t think those are sold there. Seems like they mostly sell SVS, Rel, Klipsch and Kef so it would have to be one of those.

Any advice appreciated even if it’s “no don’t do it”.

Home theater Audio Upgrade

I’m currently planing to upgrade my audio setup for at home movie watching. My current setup is fairly modest, just a Denon 1700H and a pair of Kef Q1s for LR. My chief complaint is that dialogue tends to be too quiet while watching movies/TV (and yes I have dialogue enhancer settings turned on). I have budgeted to purchase one of three upgrades for this year. What do you think makes the most sense to prioritize?

  1. Purchasing a Q6 center and subwoofer (likely an svs)

  2. Upgrade my receiver to a Denon 3800 (I’ve been a Denon loyalist for years, open to other suggestions)

  3. Upgrade my LR speakers to Kef Concertos (or go all the way to R3s).

I’ll try to upgrade all these in the next year or two but don’t think I can spend $3000-$4000 all at once. What do you think would be biggest quality of life improvements I could make?

Sour Cherry Cordial Vs Heering

I’ve been thinking about picking up a bottle of this sour cherry cordial from American Fruits. I was hoping to use it in lieu of Cherry Heering in cocktails (Singapore sling, 3 dots, etc). I like the fact that it’s a smaller 375ml bottle (my cabinet is full of 750ml bottles I hardly use). Are they effectively interchangeable or is it better to go with Heering?
