Just finished Children of Strife. If you like Vaudai, you will love Cato the sentient Stomatopod.
The Children of Time series has an opposite feel of the Captive War. The sentient species get along and explore together. Though there could be an argument they are all just pawns of an ancient AI overlord.
Highly recommend the series.

Were the Goths destroyed?
"For a brief moment there was a release of energy second only to the big bang"
I took this to mean that the Goths who were pushing in on the ring space were blasted to oblivion. Was there anything in the book saying otherwise? Closing the rings down prevented the blast from effecting our universe, but the boundary of the goths was the surface in between the rings. Did they take the explosion or did it just fizzle out in some between universe space?

For most of the book I assumed Uuya is writing the myths the people of Anjiin tell about how humans got there. But Towards the end of Beasts it seems as if the myths are about Dafyd freeing humans from the Carryx but having to stay with them himself to keep the humans protected. Do you think the myths are telling us the future or the past or are they just what Uuya has concocted to keep the secret rebellion going generationally?
