So I got a new te-62 db
I wrote a while ago about getting a real dud. This time it was absolutely much better. The finish is gorgeous, the neck feels smooth and has a very nice and consistent matte finish. The tuners and both pots work well. Pups and bridge look aligned with the neck and there is surprisingly little fret buzz.
Overall, I'm pretty stoked! It will need a setup beyond my current capabilities though, which is a bit annoying since I feel it's strength is supposed too be low price high value and a good first guitar.
There are still a few things that aren't so great. A bit more fret sprout than what I would consider normal, and some definite high spots on the frets. But miles better than the last one they sent me. Also the knobs on the pots are not put on straight, so they chaff a bit against the pick guard. Hard to tell if it's something I can adjust myself or if something is bent/crooked.
I will have it checked out by my local shop just to see if there are any hidden issues, and either ask them to set it up or get a buddy help me through it in exchange for a good meal and few beers. But so far so good. And for my next guitar, I'll probably buy at said local shop. Save up, talk to the knowledgeable people working there, and buy something that feels good from the start.
