So I got a new te-62 db

I wrote a while ago about getting a real dud. This time it was absolutely much better. The finish is gorgeous, the neck feels smooth and has a very nice and consistent matte finish. The tuners and both pots work well. Pups and bridge look aligned with the neck and there is surprisingly little fret buzz.

Overall, I'm pretty stoked! It will need a setup beyond my current capabilities though, which is a bit annoying since I feel it's strength is supposed too be low price high value and a good first guitar.

There are still a few things that aren't so great. A bit more fret sprout than what I would consider normal, and some definite high spots on the frets. But miles better than the last one they sent me. Also the knobs on the pots are not put on straight, so they chaff a bit against the pick guard. Hard to tell if it's something I can adjust myself or if something is bent/crooked.

I will have it checked out by my local shop just to see if there are any hidden issues, and either ask them to set it up or get a buddy help me through it in exchange for a good meal and few beers. But so far so good. And for my next guitar, I'll probably buy at said local shop. Save up, talk to the knowledgeable people working there, and buy something that feels good from the start.

I went with the car since the blue one was out of stock. It's beautiful and the finish is close of enough to impeccable.

The same can not be said about the fit... I think hb just proved to me that you can't build a working instrument that cheap. The pups were not aligned with the neck, neither was the bridge, leading to different loudness between the strings. Fret buzz and buzz from the springs on the bridge (yes, more than acceptable). A little bit of fret sprout would be ok, but these were unfinished little knives sticking out of the neck. Also, the neck has a slight warp near the nut, and the skunk stripe is not level with the rest of the neck, wich has dried so much since being finished that it actually feels lumpy. The volume pot is crackling and the tone nob doesn't really seem to do much at all. Talk about a dud!
