PSLF Payments Gone from last two years of payments
I have been paying my Mohela accounts to the best of my knowledge BUT they've only been 1 cent per loan and I haven't received any bills that say more than that. My statements say 0.00 due from before May 2026 when I was told to re-submit an IDR form for the first time since Covid's pause in payments and the shift to Mohela. I have 4 active loans and none of them have been in forbearance or said past due or late or anything of that sort so I figured I was fine. Additionally, they have been ticking a payment on my PSLF tracker every month as well.
I submitted a new IDR form and my new monthly total is 234, which is fine, I was expecting it, honestly, and because I was at 116 payments for two of my loans, I wasn't overly concerned about the amount because I figured they'd be forgiven soon enough anyway (my Pollyanna perspective, perhaps).
BUT recently, all 4 of my loans have lost roughly TWO YEARS of payments. The last eligible payment on my tracker is from May 2024 and when I go and look back at my Mohela payments, was when I last paid more than 1 cent. All of my payments that they've direct debited from me from June 2024-April 2026 are no longer in my count and have delayed my forgiveness by 2 years. I've been teaching and paying these loans off for 13 years with only a short forbearance for grad school, which are two of the other loans that I lost 20 months of payments for.
Should I have been paying more than 1 cent per loan? Of course, but I was seeing numbers gain and not thinking much of it. I guess my TLDR question is were these 1 cent payments not considered "eligible payments" and were subsequently taken off my tracker?
Thank you for any constructive and helpful feedback or advice, in advance. I have reached out to Mohela and they say their records are up to date and I also did the NSLDS "hack" where you see your eligible payments in the weird code like language but I'm really at a loss and would like some insight here. If the fault is my own for the low payments, I can wear that one on the chin but if not, I'd like to know how I can recoup those payments as they'd significantly speed up my PSLF.
My wife can’t (won’t) pull a double feature with me so this weekend she’s out of town and I get to have one. Featuring my new hat and my AMC brand blanket. Saw Michael and waiting Mother Mary to start. It’s my second double feature in two weeks since I took a day off last week she didn’t. Definitely earned my membership this month.
Michael was so good but I’m a sucker for a biopic. It was crazy how transformative Colman Domingo was. Every time they zoomed in on his eyes, he was unrecognizable and creepy. Looking forward to the next one.
