Games With Transformation Modes

Site link: https://bckl.gg/bkPU

Pretty straightforward list that I've been neglecting as of late and wanted to enlist help from the community for suggestions to add.

Only real rules are no licensed stuff (I explained this as not wanting to have to list every single entry from franchises like Dragon Ball and Transformers) and the transformation has to be player controlled in some way.

THOSE Power Fantasy Moments

Site link: https://bckl.gg/vr7O

Due to spoilers I'm posting screens of the grid version, the actual list is defaulted to detailed mode instead.

So this is for games that have certain stand out moments where the developers hand the players the keys to a particularly powerful new toy or upgrade to play with, or maybe just switch out to a different character momentarily who feels far stronger in the moment to play than the regular protagonist.

Open to suggestions!

Game Franchises That Lead To Youtubers Lying About EVERY GAME Videos

Site link: https://bckl.gg/vfvS

So yeah, you ever see those YT videos titled "Ranking EVERY GAME or Playing EVERY GAME" in a certain franchise only to find the person has not in fact played every game, with some glaring omissions usually made obvious from the get go. Well here's a list I'm using to chronicle the franchises that this thing usually happens with.

My Top 20 DLC/Expansions of All Time

Site link: https://bckl.gg/odrY

A good meaty expansion (heyo) can elevate some already good games to greatness or push great titles even higher into true zenith territory. So here's my best of the best picks. If there's a standout you think is missing chances are I probably never played the base game for that DLC to begin with (Witcher 3 comes to mind).

Every Game I Have Rated Higher Than The Backloggd Average

Site link: https://bckl.gg/u9RK

Figured this would be a neat little idea. Check the notes to see my score weighed against the average. Will probably do a sister list of games I rated lower than the average in the future sometime.

Make Good On Sequels/Prequels (suggestions welcome)

Site link: https://bckl.gg/nOF2

So the general gist of this one is if you see/feel something was teased in a previous entry, either overtly or more subtly in regards to gameplay or even story, it should count.

Removed Features In Sequels That Make Me Go ".....but why?"

Site link: https://bckl.gg/rTdV

Ever found yourself baffled by a sequel undoing a QoL feature or just removing something cool entirely? I certainly have as chronicled here.

Most Recurring Bosses-help needed

Site link: https://bckl.gg/sUof

So yeah, obviously haven't played every game out there to have made this a fully comprehensive list as of yet, so I wanted to ask if I'm missing any major contenders. Please make sure to read the rules as you may know of an example that doesn't quite fit what I'm looking for.

Games that were of dubious quality that make you ask "how did this ever get a sequel?"

You may know IO Interactive as the fabled Hitman developers, who have also recently released a pretty highly praised James Bond game as well. Well, back in 2007, they put out a little title called Kane & Lynch: What Da Dead Men Doin? (not actually the real subtitle as you can see above but maybe that would've worked out better)

The elevator pitch is good enough: two criminals must work together to acquire enough money to pay off a shady crime syndicate one of them used to work for until he betrayed them. It's gritty, unrelenting, has some great voice acting for our two leads and there was even this neat multiplayer mode about doing bank heists where you could betray your team for more earnings.

There's just one really big issue. It's a third person shooter with some of the worst gunplay from a AAA game from the time. The crosshair is inaccurate, enemies don't have great feedback when getting hit, a lot of encounters are the bog standard cover based shooter escapades that were in vogue back then, although there is a neat shootout in a packed nightclub that reminds you "hey, the Hitman team made this!"

And there's also the little elephant in the room in that this was the game that got Jeff Gerstmann fired from GameSpot because he rightly gave it a low score (honestly could've gone lower) in his review at the same time the site was running ads for Dead Men.

Despite that, it still managed to get a sequel greenlit that dropped 3 years later, subtitled Dog Days, which saw Lynch becoming the lead playable character and IOI doubled down on the edginess (or maybe tripled down, you see people naked albeit censored and covered in cuts and gashes in this game) and went for a lo-fi shaky cam aesthetic that was honestly pretty neat. I heard the gameplay was improved but then another issue arose in that it seemed you could beat the game in about 3 hours, maybe less.

Games Where Over 1000 Days Have Passed Since Announcement And Still Haven't Released

I like to call this one the "We announced the game when all we had was the title circled on a whiteboard" special. With so many games taking so long to make nowadays, announcing one this early on will leave people going "what happened to that game" year after year. My autism hyper fixation has lead me to keeping a database on these titles so I know what ones are about to join this oh so coveted list, but obviously we all have our blind spots and I can't keep track of it all so I'm very open to suggestions.

For those curious, games on track to be joining the ranks this year are:
Den of Wolves

Exodus

Last Sentinel

Light No Fire

Marvel's Blade

OD

My Top 10 Worst Final Game Reveals/Showings At E3/SGF/TGA etc.

I am slavishly devoted to watching all major game event shows despite just being glorified marketing campaigns, so I've seen my fair share of krustywhatthehellwasthat.gif moments that cap off these things. And here are the burnt turkeys of the bunch.

I'm sure there's some controversial takes ahead. I just needed to show love to all (well most) of these great pieces of music.
