Hello again everyone! As I had already announced a few days prior, I am posting the nominations thread for this year’s community top 250 list of favorite games of this subreddit. I will be reposting the rules in this post and I will post my ballot in the comments which will act as a template ballot for you all to follow.

The rules are as follows below:

How this will work is that each of you can nominate up to ten different games to be nominated for the list. Your ballots will be based on a points based voting system where the number one game you vote for will receive ten votes, then the number of votes lessens as the list goes on. I will post an example ballot in the nominations thread so you can all see what it looks like.

If you nominate a game that is an expanded game or a “complete” edition of a previously released game, then your vote will go towards the original base game by default. For example, if you nominate Persona 5: Royal and/or Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition, your vote will go towards the original Persona 5 and Cyberpunk 2077 by default. This is to make sure there’s not a single game taking up multiple spots on a list and other games have a chance to be represented.

Remakes will be counted as standalone titles, but any votes going towards remasters will just go towards the original, base game. I am counting remakes as games that are made entirely new from the ground up, but keep the same story/characters from the original. Remasters are games that keep the original design and mechanics of the original game intact, but just give it a new code of paint for “modern” standards. For example, a vote towards Silent Hill 2 Remake would go towards that game, but a vote for Metroid Prime: Remastered would just default back to the original Metroid Prime.

“Expandalone” games would count as individual entries, but DLCs that are only playable through their original base game would not count. For example, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy would be eligible for voting, but Elden Ring: Shadow Of The Erdtree would not.

If you vote for an entire series on a single spot, then your vote will automatically default to the highest rated game in that series. For example, if you just put “Mass Effect trilogy” on your ballot as one of your picks, your vote will default towards Mass Effect 2.

Just like last year, I have decided to exclude any games released in the current calendar year - 2026 - from being nominated for the list. I want this community list to be made up of predominantly games that you have really spent a lot of time with and to help combat recency bias. Anything released before 2026 would be eligible though!

I will keep this thread open for nominations for as long as it stays active. Last year’s winner was ELDEN RING with 291 votes. Let’s see if it gets dethroned this year!

TLOU2 might be debatable but I feel like most of the arguments in favor of the game I see online are something along the lines of "this game is nearly as good as the first game, not unforgivable dogshit like you're claiming."

Personally I backlog games I actually own and haven't played yet (or played when I was a kid and want to replay and review on the website), and wishlist games I don't own but am interested in.

I've seen people talking about it on Discord, but why can't you download it from Backloggd? Is it fake or safe to use? Has anyone used it? I'm not very tech-savvy and I don't want to end up doing something I shouldn't...

Games I fucked heavy with when I was under 10

Blockbuster was one of my favorite stops as a kid. My parents and I went there almost weekly, and I always went home with a game and/or movie we rented out.

I thought it'd be fun to make a list of most of the games I rented there. A few particular highlights to me;

Sonic 06 - Only highlighting this because my brother and I were stuck on that Silver boss fight for DAYS. I remember him finally beating it and that was one of the biggest reliefs of my childhood

Smash Bros Brawl - This and Black Ops were the two that REALLY stuck with me. I loved Brawl so much I would rent it again and again until I couldn't anymore. The day it was supposed to be brought back, I asked my mom when she picked me up from school if she returned the game, and she surprised me by telling me she bought the game for me to keep. Needless to say I was very happy. Thanks mom. Also, unlocking Sonic after multiple attempts to beat him was one of the most exciting moments of my childhood.

Kirby's Return to Dreamland and Kirby's Dream Collection - Brawl made me love the little puffball and made me curious to try out these games. I had a blast with both of these, unfortunately though I never bought either. Seeing how much they cost now, I wish I did lol. I did get around to playing and beating Return to Dreamland via the Switch port though. Also, random fun fact - the rental for Dream Collection came with the soundtrack CD and I used it to rip one of the songs onto my Original Xbox. Frankly I don't know which Kirby song it is, but I thought it was so cool hearing a Nintendo song on an Xbox console back then.

Donkey Kong Country Returns - 9/10 year old me was NOT ready for how damn hard this game is. I was never able to get far in it. I could tell it was a good game, but the difficulty was too much for me back then. Recently though I completed the Switch port, and thought it was fantastic.

Call of Duty: Black Ops - This was the other game that stuck with me the most. My first online multiplayer game too. I rented it a few times before receiving it as a gift while on vacation. I poured HOURS into this as a kid, making a bunch of potato quality videos on me doing glitches, dicking around, etc. I played it so much it ended up bricking my Wii and I had to get a new one. There's no real reason to play the Wii version anymore, but I still play the Xbox version every now and then. I'd consider it among my all time favorite games.

Sonic Generations - I rented this shortly after it came out and beat it in one night. I also bought it on sale when my Blockbuster was getting ready to close down. Easily one of my favorite Sonic games

Angry Birds Trilogy - I was one of many kids obsessed with these games in the early 2010s. I remember REALLY wanting to play these games on the Wii for some reason and even had my dad help me contact Rovio support, requesting they port the games there. Clearly they listened to their biggest fan because my dream came true. I now get to play this free mobile game with my fancy remote!! My mom rented it for me for a week and it was fun, but I think at this point I felt like it was more of a cool novelty than something I would play on my TV for hours.

Somewhat recently, my Backloggd account seems to have become glitched so that whenever I search up games, either through the default search bar at the top of the site, or the search bar for searching for games to add to lists, no results show up at all. With the default site search bar, I can circumvent it by just hitting "Enter" so that I get sent to a separate page with the resaults, however this isn't possible with the search bar that's integraded in editing lists to add games to said lists.

I know what one would normally think; that this is some sort of browser/cookie issue, which is what I thought as well. However, this problem persists across both my phone and laptop, and on different browsers on both devices, and they all stopped working simultaneously. I can't think of anything else being the case except for my account being bugged somehow. I've tested

On my phone I've tried it on Chrome, Internet Explorer and Firefox. On my laptop I've tried it on Chrome, Firefox, Edge and Brave. On all of them, the dropdown menu from searching for games don't work.

My username on the site is Garosath, is it possible to get this fixed somehow? I want to update some of my lists, but right now it's impossible.
