Got really into Metroidvanias lately, and I ended up finding a game I truly adored. I wanted to post this review here because it's been ages since I've given something a 10/10. The review got less likes than my other reviews, which I normally wouldn't care about, but given the effort I put into the review and how special the game is to me, that made me a little disappointed. So give it a read if you want! (And if you enjoyed the review perhaps give it a like on Backloggd!)

(Note: There are two images in the post) As someone who adores the Metroid series but has gone through all the main games, I thought it would be fun to make a list of Metroidvanias that are specifically Metroid-likes. Here are all the MVs I could find that seem to firmly fall on the "Metroid" side of the scale, and recapture that Metroid experience and style. MV experts, are there any other games I missed? Also, please let me know if a game that's already on the list doesn't really belong here.

Update: I've added several more games to the list as a result of your suggestions and some of my own research. See the link above to view the current list, which I'll continue updating if you guys have any more suggestions. Thanks for all the positive feedback by the way!
I've collected every single user-created list I could find on Backloggd of the best 2D platformers. Using the 160 lists I found, I have calculated Backloggd's definitive ranking of the best 2D platformers of all time! Any game that earned points from at least 4 lists will be featured in this ranking.
I'm open to updating this ranking with new lists, but only if you link your list in the comments of this post or in the comments of the list itself. Feel free to contribute to the ranking! For further info on how the ranking works, read the list's description.
Whaddya think? Agree or disagree with the placements? Any games you wish would've placed higher? Let me know if you'd like to see other rankings using Backloggd lists in the future! (e.g. other genres, consoles, series)
