Audiobook Players that can handle switching drivers

I'm going on a road trip in a few days, and I want to listen to an audiobook file that I have. Not streaming, not Audible. It's an m4b. I'll be sharing the driving duties with a friend.

I'm looking for a book player that we can both have on our phone that can reference the same copy of the book tha tway it starts at the right time on each phone when we switch.

Thanks in advance!

2FA Error in JDownloader

Hi all, I'm consistently getting this error every 10 or so minutes as I have the app open. I don't have any requests to login or auth in my email, JD, or the rapidgator site. I can still use JD and download from RG with no problems, this just consistently keeps popping up. Thanks for any advice!

Must have plugins

Hey everyone! I currently have a server in an old MacMini running iOS 11, which is below the minimal threshold OS for the actively maintained version of Jellyfin, so I have to use a legacy version of the program which doesn’t do well with plugins or themes.

I’m upgrading! I want to take advantage of all of the themes and plugins made by the community. I’m focusing on analytics, playlists/curation, and anything to do with the Roku and Samsung apps. What projects are great?!

JDownloader - Linux??

Hi all! I'm upgrading my systems and considering a pivot to some version of Linux (a Debian based with gui) to begin with Docker and expanding my homelab knowledge.

Have folks had good experiences with the JDownloader Linux package? I'd love to hear from the users before committing 100%.

Thank you!

I already own the domain, how much does having the site cost?

I bought a domain from Google Sites back in the day and it was meant to last for 8 years. They got bought by SquareSpace a few years ago and my domain transferred to them. My website still runs on the Google Sites software, so I don’t pay for any hosting.

It’s time to leave Google Sites. It served me well but I need a platform with decent analytics tools and a way to separately create the mobile and desktop versions. I’m looking for a level 1 or 2 kind of website. What costs can I expect having, or is it free since I already have an active domain?

FireWire Interfaces in 2026

Hello, all!

I've come across a MACKIE ONYX BLACKBIRD audio interface that offers FireWire connection. Yes, I know that FireWire is ancient and I should use other devices. But it was free, and if these ideas work thats one less piece of electronic waste, and I get a bonus interface! With Apple recently dropping all FireWire capabilities, I've accepted that my options are limited. I'm not interested in using an older version of any OS (Mac or Windows). I'm looking for solutions that hold up to my current computers on MacOS 26 or Windows 11.

My current plan is to use this SP/DIF to USB converter to attempt to digitize to Mac Core Audio. I'm not sure if this will keep all 8 channels separate or smush them together. I have a Scarlett 2i2 as my other interface but it doesn't accept ADAT.

Thanks everyone!

CasaOS and other programs

Hello, all!

I'm very new to the Linux world, and picking out components of my system as I begin my deep dive. I'm planning to install CasaOS on my miniPC, but was wondering if I can still run other Linux programs and a GUI. I'd like to be able to still use this as a regular computer (not in the terminal) and run other programs that offer Linux installers. This is not a docker program, just a linux program. Is that possible?

Thanks!

Jellyfin, RasPi 4, and WiFi enter a bar…

Hi everyone!

I’m looking for advice from people that know more about computer hardware than me. I have a successful Jellyfin server run over Ethernet on an ancient MacMini in my apartment.

I’m going to be moving for three months for work, and will not have an opportunity to hardwire an internet line to that Mac (nor can I bring the machine with me.) At the same time, I’m leaving my current house and will get a new one when I return. So I can’t just leave the server running and remote in.

I’m considering a Raspberry Pi 4, an SSD, and connecting over WiFi at my office or other accommodation. I’m not looking to do anything crazy, just to keep my server running. What considerations should I know about Jellyfin, RasPi 4, and WiFi before I leave? I’m not heartset on the RasPi, but cost is a concern.

Thank you all!!

Should I upgrade?

Hi all!

I have a 2012 Mac Mini with 16GB DDR3 and a 2.3ghz i7 processor.

I saved the life of this computer several months ago by using OpenCore to bring it up to Big Sur. Aka MacOS 11. Unfortunately, everything in the world is using MacOS 12 as the minimum supported system for every program ever. My computer is struggling with basic Homebrew packages because the OS is too old, like come on!

I've been under the impression that my machine is too old to handle MacOS 12 or 13. I'm not a computer genius, I'm an average dude. Do y'all think my specs can handle an upgrade?

Hello, technical geniuses or r/Tailscale!

I'm new to this, and don't exactly know what I'm doing other than a general understanding of LAN networks. So I have a learning curve.

I live in PA, and my brother lives in TX, and he's been letting me use his YouTubeTV login, but it has finally put a location block on me since I'm outside of the household. To reset your status, you have to connect in that wifi network, refresh the app, and hopefully that's it.

If I add my brother's computer to my Tailscale network, how do I trick my phone to be in that device's network? Is this even the right tool for this?

TIA!!
