Reptile Breeding Game Update
Hi everyone. Some of you may remember a while back I posted about wanting to create a reptile breeding tycoon style game. I had quite a few people respond to that and absolutely love it which I will go back and respond to those people with updates. For those who didn't see that I am planning on making a tycoon style game where you go from a small bedroom breeder to someone like KINOVA etc. I will link my original post to look at.
However good news I have fully finished planning out the game in terms having a "MVP" prototype able to be running and made with stand in shapes as the characters and objects. My goal is to have a fully playable demo ready in 6-8 months (I wish I could work more on it but my schedule makes it tough).
My question is this... Would people dislike the game if I made it a pixel art style of 2D top down game (think of like stardew valley but I would want it more detailed) Or would people prefer it to be a cartoon style game but not pixel art orrrrrrrr to be a 3D game sort of like the million simulator games out there? 2D top down would allow me to build this game much much faster than 3D which is why I want to do that but if no one would be interested then I will take the time to make it 3D. Also if I can somehow make some money from a 2D version then maybe I can hire some people to make a 3D perfect version down the line. Please let me know your thoughts and if anyone is an artist (cartoon or pixel art) and are willing to help me make some assets please reach out!
It has been super fun making the GDD (game design document) and planning out all the features. I think this game will be addicting to play and will have a pokemon gotta catch them all sort of vibe where you could either just try and produce the craziest animals, hatch every combination possible, or even become a breeding empire.
