What’s your best gear hack?

Elk hunting finds flaws in gear like no other. After a day or 2 you think about how your gear could be better/lighter or how you can DIY a solution. Any of you guys find a cool trick or a way to do something better? Bonus question: is there a piece of gear you are glad you spent a little more money on rather than a cheaper option? (For me its a good pack)

Just a heads up for anyone planning on driving back through Iowa - skull plates only

I had emailed the Iowa DNR asking if there was an exemption for non-residents traveling through to their home state or if I made a Euro mount in the field. They basically read the regs back to me so I take it as a hard no. Just didn’t want anyone to have their bull confiscated driving home cuz they didn’t see the regs in a state they’re just passing through. I included the 3rd pic cuz I like how MN does it and how clear they are in regs

Muskies from the kayak - pure adrenaline

Can’t explain the excitement of seeing a musky suddenly appear from the depths chasing your lure and ur basically eye level with them in a kayak. I decided to go barbless after my second cuz I realized they’re too mean and too much to deal with in a kayak…also didn’t want a giant barbed treble hook in me and the fish at the same time 😂 A lot more get off now but its still a blast

Initial Ascent packs

Any of you have experience with Initial Ascent packs? Looking to upgrade my pack and I’m debating between the IA5K and IA8K, problem is nobody near me has them in stock for me to check out. I’ll have to order one to try it out. Just wanted to hear some thoughts on what you guys think.
