RidgeRead is live on the iOS app store!

Hey everyone, just launched the first mobile version of RidgeRead on the iOS App Store.

To celebrate the launch, we are giving everyone 1 year of RidgeRead Pro free. Also, anyone who signs up before July 7 can lock in $1.99/month forever after the free year.

RidgeRead is a hunting/scouting app built with a privacy-first approach: your pins, notes, routes, and scouting strategy should stay yours. The goal is to make a reliable backcountry tool that helps with planning and terrain analysis without turning your data into the product.

It includes map tools and layers such as terrain analysis, point of interest finder, road density, sun exposure, and more. The goal is to make it easier to understand access, terrain features, movement corridors, glassing spots, bedding areas, saddles, drainages, and other details that matter in the field.

We genuinely appreciate any feedback from hunters, especially around what would make this more useful in the field.

Easton 5.0 vs. Victory rip tko

Ive previously shot victory and I love them. I recently got a dozen 5.0s to try out since they are hyped and been around for so long and truly I’m disappointed I’m wondering what everyone else’s thoughts are with these arrow brands

BEAST Mechanical Broadheads

I bought Micro hades fixed blades last year, had a helluva time trying to get them grouping decently (with major adjustment necessary to my sight/tune). It was a hassle and never truly felt 100% confident. Tried Montecs as well and it was even worse.

I’m highly interested in trying mechanicals, specifically for less tuning/sight adjustment time (more true to field points from what I’ve heard). I’ve heard good feedback from a buddy that uses BEAST and has taken multiple muleys with them.

For context, I’m shooting a 72lb bow and will be hunting elk in Colorado this September. I have 2 years of archery experience, last season was my first going out with a bow.

Anyone have experience specifically with BEAST?

Built a free tool for Utah hunt planning/draw odds, figured I'd share

Howdy all, not sure what the amount of hunting enthusiasts in this group is like, but if there are any hunters here, figured I'd share a tool I built, completely free.

Basically, the goal of the tool is to be able to have an easier way of viewing all of the different available hunts you can put in for, whether it's OTC, Deer, Elk, Antlerless etc - able to filter by weapon type, view the draw odds, harvest success rate etc.

After sitting here for the past few months staring at spreadsheets of draw results, harvest results, trying to figure out what hunt code was for which unit etc, figured I'd build something that's visually nice on the eyes - and has some sharing features so you can send exactly what hunt you're talking about for someone else to see.

Hopefully someone finds this useful. Happy hunting!

Idaho Sawtooth A Tag

I've been hunting elk in the Sawtooth's for 5 years now with little to no success. I have consistently found elk in 1 drainage but it is riddled with hunters and the elk go quiet after 7am because of it. As I prepare to go out and scout new areas this summer I wanted to see if there were any all stars on here that had any good pointers for me.

I'm not a road hunter, I usually go 2-3 miles off road by foot looking for sign and I'm not afraid to go steep or deep. Feel free to PM, TIA!
