BMW Ultimate Care Oil Services Plan

Photo for Attention.
TL;DR - How frequently are yall doing oil changes, 1 Year/10,0000 miles seems too long.

Recently purchased the BMW Ultimate Care Oil Services 3 Year plan and a Tier 4 DOWC Extended Vehicle Service Contract for my 2021 X5.

Are y’all following the Car's Service Interval or do you just change your oil at specific milage or intervals?

BMW Dealer is saying my next oil service is July 2027 or 10,000 miles....that seems very long.

I know the car automatically adjusts the service interval based on driving so I'm sure that will change but 10,000 miles makes me nervous.

I stupidly never asked but I'm assuming the Oil Care Services Plan will only cover the old service if the car is requesting it.

Did anyone else opt for the Oil Care Service Plan? How frequently are y'all doing oil changes?

Finally installed Lip and side skirts. Debating keeping Cerium Grey...

Finally had time to get my Front and Rear Lip and Side Skirts installed. Still debating on keeping the Cerium Grey grille, mirror caps, and bumper trim....

Planning to install Black Badges, Laser Lights, and a new lower grille (Rock took the old one out on the highway) next weekend!

What rear spoiler have you guys installed? The one's I'm seeing are a bit too aggressive for my taste, looking for something that's slightly sportier more OEM+

My 2021 X5 M50i was delivered yesterday!

Hey all,

My "new to me" 2021 X5 M50i was delivered yesterday and I still can't believe it’s all mine. I can't stop looking out the window.

I'm coming from a 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee and while I loved it, it has nothing on this BMW. I previously owned a 2001 330i and a 2004 X5 3.0, and I forgot how smooth BMW's drive.

This is my first V8 and I already love the power, taking her on the Dan Ryan for the first time was insane lol.

Purchased it with 56,5xx miles, Single Owner, and was able to obtain service records from BMW up to Nov 2025.

Just purchased a set of PIRELLI SCORPION AS 4's as the tires were pretty worn. Getting those installed in the morning. I know the ride will be even better with new rubber.

Also planning on dropping by a BMW dealer as I didn't come with the Key Card or cargo cover, trunk nets, or spare tire/ fix flat kit.

Appreciate any tips, tricks, mods, or maintenance items to be aware of. I've been reading on Bimmerpost and it seems I should be aware of Transfer Case issues. Should I make an appointment to get the fluid changed as a precaution?

TIA

EDIT: I have an appointment scheduled with BMW Of Elmhurst Monday for Transfer Case Service, and Front and Rear Differential Service. Was quoted $1050 for everything, not as bad as I was expecting.

Let the service tech know this is new to me, he put it in the notes and said they would double check everything over.

Help please! Tried to take headshots at home

Hello All,

I've just started a new job and they asked for a headshot for my IDs, Work Accounts, etc. I tried to snap a few at home against a white wall and they turned out mostly okay.

I really like the shots with my glasses but there's terrible glare.

Can someone please remove the glare from my glasses so they look more professional?

Offering $20 and willing to send via Venmo, PayPal, or Zelle, or however.

thank guys!

About to start searching, Finance Advise

Hello Everyone,

I'm about to start the search for a Used or new car and looking for some financial advice before I start. This will be my third car buying experience and I want to be as educated and informed before I step foot on a dealer lot.

My previous car purchases were not great, and each time I was broke, unprepared, and overpaid due to my ignorance.

This time around I have approximately $22k saved for a down payment. I would rather not have a car payment but I'm looking at a mid-sized premium SUVs so expecting some financing. Realistically, I’m not looking to finance more than $13 to $16k.

I have not taken any steps so no pre-approvals, no loan applications, or credit pulls yet. I've paid off most of my debt, and have 1x credit card that I don't carry a balance on.

  • Is it financially smarter to finance the full cost of the car, then make a $22k payment toward the loan after? Then finish out the remaining installments.
    • Does the interest rate matter if I'm making such a large payment toward the principal?

or

  • Put the full $22k down, and finance the remaining amount?
    • Would this option allow for more negotiating power, or incentives?

appreciate any advice or car buying tips!

It felt so big in 2007

I just found this old girl while cleaning out my old desk. Hunted the house for an old connector to plug it in. I can't believe it turned on! I also can't believe how small it is compared to my iPhone 17 Pro Max. I remember getting this in 2007 and the screen felt so big at the time.

Me, also realizing this phone is almost 20 years old.

Office Wall Art

I saw this for sale on Etsy and I couldn’t resist attempting to make it myself. Found a high quality image, printed on some cardstock I had laying around, put it in an old photo frame. It gives me a laugh every time i look over at it.

Time for this workhorse to retire

tl;dr: Scored a M4 Max Mac Studio on Facebook Marketplace, plan to use 2019 Intel Mac Pro as Virtual Machine, Storage box, and Content Cache. Daily driving the Mac Studio now.

Ive been using an 2019 Intel Mac Pro for the past year and it's been great. It's of course no Apple Silicon but it handled everything I threw at it without issue. I was pretty bummed when Apple recently announced the end of Intel support. Knew it was coming but I know I can get more years out of this Mac Pro.

I've been on the hunt for an M4 Max Mac Studio and I didn't want to wait weeks from Apple. Took a risk today but it thankfully paid off. Was able to score an Unopened Apple Refurbished base M4 Mac Studio for $2200 off Facebook Marketplace!

I paid a higher price but this was the first M4 Studio I've seen in my area. We met up at the police station, The Mac Studio was indeed unopened, seller arrived with original purchase receipt and all serial numbers matched when I opened at the police station.

I was still nervous that I would arrive home, plug her in, and be greeted with Activation Lock or MDM. Thankfully everything worked out. Writing this on the studio now! I was even able to add it to my AppleCare One so she's protected now!

I now plan on using the 2019 Intel Mac Pro as a Content Cache, storage box, and Virtual Machines since I can still run x86. Already set up a Time Machine drive for my M3 MBP to backup to!

Here's the specs of both machines below:

2019 Intel Mac Pro

  • 3.2 Ghz 16-Core Xeon W
  • 192 GB RAM
  • AMD Radeon Pro 580X
  • 10 TB SSD Storage
  • 5 TB HDD Storage

2025 Mac Studio

  • Apple M4 Max 14 Core
  • 36 GB RAM
  • 32 Core GPU
  • 512 GB Storage

Source of Truth

What is the source of truth for iCloud? is it iPhone, iCloud.com, Mac?

Example:

When I delete a folder from the Mail app on my Mac, the folder will reappear after some time. If I login to iCloud.com Mail, delete the folder, it remains deleted.

or

I use rules a ton in the Mac Mail app, but when I login to iCloud.com mail I don't see any of my rules listed.

Should I be making rules and changes via iCloud.com, and then it will properly sync across all my apple devices? Do the rules I have created apply to my iCloud mail, or does the rules created in iCloud.com override what I have on the Mac Mail app?

I've also noticed there are times when my rules randomly stop applying, or they're all disabled in the Mail app and I will have to re-enable them. Should I recreate all my rules in iCloud.com Mail?

Thanks for any help!
