The suitcase by the window. John lying again.

John Ramsey was always at work, and Patsy was the homemaker. By most accounts, the house was cluttered and messy, with things not exactly in perfect order. The basement had stuff everywhere.

So when John says he went to the basement and immediately noticed the suitcase by the window “didn’t belong there,” I have a hard time with that. He strongly statea it doesn't belong. Hmmmm.

How would he know that so confidently if the house was cluttered everywhere and things were often out of place? Why would that suitcase stand out to him so strongly?

I think I caught John in a lie

I think I may have noticed a possible inconsistency in John Ramsey's statements about the basement window.

In his recent interview with Chris McDonough on The Interview Room (YouTube), John says he believed the broken basement window had been fixed... or something like that. I don't have the time now to watch it again but I think it was the 3rd interview.

However, in his interview with Dr. Phil about 10 years earlier, John said he wasn't surprised the window glass was broken because he had broken it months earlier after locking himself out of the house. He said what surprised him was that the window itself was open.

If John knew he had broken the window and specifically remembered breaking it to get into the house, why would he later say he thought the window had been repaired?

If anyone happens to see both of these two interviews, it seems like a contradiction.

Wouldn’t you be making a suspect list?

This part of Patsy’s interview bothers me:

TT: About how many people were over at the house on the 13th? PR: Oh, you know, 50 or 60 maybe. TT: Do you have a list of the people that were over to the house on the 13th? PR: No, but Carolyn Blyley probably does.

If my daughter had been murdered in my own home, and 50 or 60 people had recently been inside that house, I feel like I’d be racking my brain over every single person.

Who knew the layout? Who saw the basement? Who acted strange? Who could have noticed our routines?

I’m not saying not having the physical party list proves anything. But wouldn’t you, as a mother, be mentally making a suspect list and trying to help police figure out everyone who had access?

Her answer just feels oddly passive to me.

How to tell my friend she can't join my family vacation?

My spouse and I purchased a timeshare last year that we use once a year. It’s not just a random vacation for us — it’s basically the one time each year we get to spend real time with my spouse’s kids, who live far away. Plus my kids join too.

My siblings also have timeshares at the same place, so different family members rotate through and we get to see them too. It’s become a family tradition for like 30 years. So last year, we decided to buy our own so that we don't have to rotate and now we get to go every year.

The problem is that my friend found out about the timeshare and now keeps trying to invite herself and her family to stay nearby at the exact same time so “we can all hang out.” She thinks it would be so fun to meet everyone and be part of it. Her kids are our kids ages.

But honestly, we do not want that. My spouse cannot stand her husband, and if I’m being honest, neither can I. My friend also overwhelms us sometimes — she’s loud, doesn’t listen well, and tends to take over the energy of a situation. She's super fun for a girl's night out, but a vacation is a whole other thing. I don’t want our only family vacation of the year to turn into her showing up and getting us annoyed.

I don’t want to be cruel, but I also don’t want to leave the door open. This summer she didn't bring it up because they have other plans but I just know she will bring it up in future years. How do I tell her no? I feel horrible but I will need to say something.

Recruiters, what does this letter look like? [IL]

Yes, I know I probably should stop analyzing a recruiter’s email, but waiting through another weekend is brutal. I’d appreciate honest thoughts from people who hire/interview regularly.

Context: This is for a role at a major financial institution. My interview was one week ago. After I sent a status update email, the recruiter replied saying:

Hi (name)! Thank you for reaching out!

I am meeting with (name) tomorrow to review final candidates and discuss who he would like to move forward with – I will have a formal update for you by Monday 😊

Can anyone identify my grandpa’s sailboat from this old photo? Probably taken around 1995 in Florida. I know the angle isn’t great, but curious about the make/model and possible year range.

He was in his mid 60's when he retired and moved from Chicago to Siesta Key Florida a few years later in 1979. He learned to sail on this boat and bought it used in the 1980s. It's name was Challenger. He was so proud. He passed away in his mid 80s and my grandma donated the boat to a sailing school.
