Where can I find Economics-related research jobs in Illinois?

I am in the Economics program at DePaul and I’m hoping I can get a temporary job (for about two years) this summer related to research in economics in Illinois.
I have some options already in Chicago from a single institution which has multiple options, but I would like to apply to other institutions/companies/organizations as well.
Is anyone familiar with institutions or organizations in Illinois that have applications open for research in economics to start this summer?

Unbalanced plane during ascent and descent

Hello!
So, I am curious.
I was on a flight during spring break.
On my trip back, I experienced the worst flight I have ever been in the past ten months. In the past 10 months, I traveled via plane eight times with the same airline. The first seven were fine, but the last one was scary. I’ve made some research on it but would like to know what pilots might think of it.

Here’s the story:
We all got on the plane and then when we were ready, the pilot started driving the plane. While we were still on the ground, I smelled some light smell of smoke. Then right when we stopped to take off, the pilot said that we had to return to the gate, so that the mechanic can check the alternators. Then he said they had to refill the gas tank and check the oil. All this took about two hours. Then finally the plane was supposedly ready to go. So the pilot started driving the plane and in our last turn before take off, the plane made a loud grinding noise. Then we took off but it did not feel normal, at least nothing like the previous flights I’ve had. The plane felt unstable, sort of like swaying side to side, unbalanced. Not only did I feel it so, but others as well. Finally, when we finished the ascent, the plane was stable. Then about two or three hours later, we started the descent. It also felt unstable and I think some swaying, but I don’t think the swaying was as bad as the ascent. However, during the descent, the plane dipped or dropped to some extent. And while we were still descending, it seems that the pilot was leaning the plane forward to some extent, to gain momentum to land. Then when we landed, the plane was shaking until we got to the gate. Then the pilot turned the lights on, which flickered a couple of times.
Since the pilot mentioned before the flight that the mechanic had to check the alternators, etc, it makes me think that the pilot was flying manually the whole time?
Sorry for my ignorance if I’m wrong, since I’m not a pilot myself.
I’m just making assumptions based on my experience and what the pilot said himself.

What could you say about this situation? The alternators weren’t working properly, which then forced the pilot to fly completely manually during the ascent and descent?

If it helps, in all the eight flights I’ve been on, so including the last one when I had this experience, I was on Spirit Airlines.

Will the DePaul campus at the Loop be open on Memorial Day?

I don’t have class on Monday because of the holiday, but I’m wondering if the university will still be accessible?
