The Chorizo and Pineapple pizza at A Pizza Pie in Uptown
My friends, I need to tell you about the best pizza I've had in a hot minute. I enjoy pizzas of all kinds, ranging from simple and good like Home Run Inn (the GOAT of the freezer aisle) to innovative and unique like Piece in Wicker Park. A Pizza Pie in Uptown manages to ace both ends of this spectrum, but tonight I veered towards the wild side with their Chorizo and Pineapple pie.
First off, let's get one thing out of the way: Pineapple on pizza is good and correct and there's no shame in believing that deep down. It's good to be honest with yourself. Now, combine that warm sweet goodness with chorizo and jalapeno and you have something truly special on your hands and also in your mouth.
This pizza is phenomenal, full stop. It's like a pizza that's also a taco, but not in a confusing and weird way. Every bite made me hungrier until the point where I was sad when I was suddenly full. After chewing through the cheese and topping region of each slice, I was treated to the satisfying bready dessert that was the crust.
The correct way to order this pizza is with the hot honey to top off the magic with a touch of sweet heat. You want this pizza, you need this pizza. Thanks to A Pizza Pie, I no longer miss Milly's.
And if all of that didn't sell you... know that A Pizza Pie is run by the same gifted food artist that runs Ragadan a few doors down. The man can multitask, and we are all better off for it!
