Omega v Hexion v Nomad
Hey all! Looking to suppress my steyr Aug in 300 blackout. Barrel is 16 inches, 1/8 twist rate.
The Omega 300, Hexion 300, and Nomad L are the suppressors I’ve been looking at the most, but want some informed opinions on the matter. The CGS Hyperion has also been of interest, however I feel the price tag is substantially higher for no real benefits over the others.
Ive also looked at the Hexion 762 and standard Nomad as form the few videos I’ve seen, the noise difference is virtually unnoticeable on a semi auto rifle as port pop is the primary noise, so having the shorter suppressor is a plus.
Steyr does recommend against flow through designs because a potential lack of back pressure to cycle the pretty hefty bolt, however I’ve been able to reliably cycle subsonic rounds unsuppressed already, so I feel any back pressure is going to suffice, even that of a flow through.
My use case is fairly niche and modularity isn’t a high priority. The only other real use I might have is swapping it onto the 5.56 barrel for the Aug as well. I don’t intend to suppress my .308 G3 clone for the time being. Regardless, I believe all the options I have listed have back plates that can be swapped out for Keymo or ARS style devices.
Anyway, just looking to get some knowledge and opinions from those who have actually used suppressors before.
Thanks!
