KNS Gas regulator
I just watched what appears to be the only video on YouTube of the KNS Discarder on an AUG. His gun would still lock the bolt back in position zero with a suppressor. Now I kept wondering why he didn't try any weaker ammo, all he used was m193 and m855 so full power military loads. Either way it doesn't seem like this will reduce gas enough. Does anyone else have experience with this? Is it worth the $200? Is there another option coming that will be better?
Handguards.
I know this topic has been beat to death, but i have dilemma with my aug now. On my A3 m1, I run the underworld arms cqc handguard and never had any issues arise until now. I shot suppressed with a oem plug and seemed alright but got a suppressed plug instead of the kns (unfortunately) and now its blowing gas out of the ports so much I can't even shoot 5-10 rounds without burning my gloves whether c clamped way out front or even traditional vert grip. Of course I'm wrong handed, but I never had a issue until I started running the suppressed plug. That being said, is there any handguards other than a corvus, or m2 that have a gas piston port cover or heat shield of some kind? I wanted to get a claw gear cover and try that but of course none are anyway to be found. Any other solutions out there?
Parts kit?
Has anyone used buyghostgun.ca for nylaug/aug parts? I see they have a kit I want and I’m in the US.
New and Old
Picked up a NIB 2016~ AUG A3 M1 with the 3x optic and chrome lined barrel a couple weeks ago before my state ban went into effect. Fits in nicely alongside my preban A1!
handgaurds that don't delete the vertical grip?
I'm aware of the underworld arms handgaurds and I would jump on that if only they were available for a 16".
I'd like to retain the foregrip and preferably retain the ability to fold it as well while gaining some mlok slots for a bipod and lights.
does this exist or have I missed the boat?
Am I regarded or is there a better way to do this?
How do you guys mount your light switches? Ranger bands is a solution that I’ve come upon and it’s plenty secure but it looks kinda augtistic. I’m also slightly worried about the wire being that close to the gas block

Bolt and sleeve damage
While putting my Aug back together I noticed some damage on the sleeve that doesn’t allow the bolt and sleeve to be put back into the carrier. The bolt cam also has flat spots and wear on it. Can I file down the sleeve and let it run for now or do I need to replace the bolt and sleeve?
Dyed mud > green aug result
Dyed this thing last week and let it sit for a bit before making this post
Overall; meh whatever. Looks perfect for olive drab, like actual olive drab not "od green aug" which is just RAL7013. I very much wanted closer to RAL7013 but it's dye and dye sucks. I like it better than mud so it will do until restock (lol).
Process was 2 gallons of water, large foil pan on the stove that could completely submerge it. approximately 2 teaspoons of peacock green and half of a teaspoon of chocolate brown, 185 degrees for 2 hours. I used another pan to keep it from evaporating too much. It NEEDS to be monitored for evaporating and temp control. All metal parts need to be removed, it will strip some parkerizing and rust.
This is wildly less than rit dyes "ranger green" recipe, which is a cup + a half of a cup for 2 gallons, which during testing turned a Magpul tan grip into a dark purple. I tested about 10 pieces of fde scrap with different mixes and using barely any was way better.
The Aug stock is Nylon66 and rit synthetic requires a minimum of 180 degrees, so you have to be very careful with the temperature to not run off over 200.
First photo represents it out of direct sunlight very well, second photo in direct sunlight, third photo compared to two different ranger greens (first spear and BFG). On the fourth photo you can see that they dye definitely isn't perfect and suffering from some sploching, this is the worst of it. It is not bad though and doesn't really bother me.
New Aug owner
One of my grail guns, traded my 556 galil ace for it and glad I did!
what is the size and pitch of these threads?
all I can find is the muzzle thread specs, not these.
Question From a Potential AUG Owner: Does Steyr No Longer Make the A3 M1?
I have some expendable money to burn and was looking at possibly purchasing an AUG. Most of my enjoyment of firearms comes from the LARP, so of course I'd like to recreate the look of the AUG from La Femme Nikita, and Die Hard. I'd like to install the the STG-77 optic on an A3 M1 in OD Green. I cannot find these anywhere whatsoever. I can't really find any model of AUG at any major online retailer, for that matter. What is the deal?
