Missed out on AUGust, so here's my AUGtober submission.

Top is an A3 M1 currently in a black NATO configuration, bottom is an A3 SA in a green standard configuration (with a new 1:7 barrel). Theyre both rocking Steyr Z front rails, Eotechs, and HUX brakes. Both share a HUX HXQD and G33 magnifier.

I was going for more practical and modern with the M1 and more classic with the SA.

Looking for recommendation - SP5 pictogram marking

Title says it all, Id like to add a third position pictogram to my SP5 lower. Who do you all recommend? Who's going to give a good, accurate looking marking?

Thanks in advance

Starting Rituximab in a few days - what should I expect?

Hi all, I'm posting today because my doctors have recommended and approved for me to begin Rituximab. I'm scheduled to do the first infusion in a few days.

I'm worried about it, because I don't really know what to expect. So, for anyone who's done Rituximab:

-How should I expect to feel on it? Will I feel generally normal, or am I going to feel awful all the time?

-Do I need to change my lifestyle at all? Should I be living in a bubble and never go see anyone or do anything?

-Is this going to bring me other issues? Should I expect to get infections or illnesses all the time?

Note: I'll be posting this in a few places, to try and get as much information/experiences as I can.

Any input is appreciated, thank you.

New 1:7 barrel does not fit my A3 SA

Hey all, so I recently bought an older AUG A3 SA, and I figured it would be cool to throw one of the newer 1:7 16" barrels onto it. As far as I knew (and as listed on the Steyr website), the new barrels are compatible with all AUGs. When I tried to install it onto my SA, it does not fit. The collar that's on the rear of the barrel/gas block (that rotates to lock into place on the receiver) cant make it past the pin that sticks out of the top rail. So the barrel cannot be pushed in far enough to allow the barrel to rotate into place.

Here's a pic of the new 1:7 barrel on the SA receiver (left side of AUG where gas block meets receiver):

https://preview.redd.it/94h5nlv2jagh1.jpg?width=1500&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=90af5d17e346e5f1c00cefbfa9eaaec87f8b95ed

Here is what it looks like when I put the original 1:9 SA barrel on:

https://preview.redd.it/844c5bf9jagh1.jpg?width=1500&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9b8a4c560e94d0e543591d5c7ada8c5072929bfb

And here's even what it looks like when I swap my AUG M1 barrel onto the SA receiver:

https://preview.redd.it/r1ucxqdcjagh1.jpg?width=1500&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8222e8ac030546ea985c6c41d40e76cf098c0ad7

The SA and M1 barrels have much more clearance between the gas block collar and the rail pin, and they fit just fine. The newer 1:7 does not fit at all. So it looks like either my barrel is just out of spec, or, there's been a change to the M2 barrels that makes them not fit onto an A3 SA.

What do you guys think? Has anyone else tried to put a 1:7 barrel onto an A3 SA? Is this a fluke or do these new barrels just not fit older AUGs?

Someone school me on AUG chrome lined barrels

Hey all, so I recently purchased another AUG, an A3 SA (VLTOR). To my surprise, when I took everything apart, I discovered it has a chrome lined barrel. I thought those ended back during the Sabre years, I guess not. Ive heard some sources say the CL barrels are great, I've heard some sources say that the chrome lining was applied poorly and the barrels are not good. Are these old CL barrels worth using? Or should I shelve it? I already bought a new 1:7 barrel for it, so it's currently just an extra barrel.

Sent here from the Lupus page, for a 6 year sickness - can Sjogren's cause these issues?

Hello all, I'm posting in this page because I posted first in the Lupus page, and multiple people there reached out and told me that my symptoms may be consistent with Neuro-Sjogren's (which I wasn't even aware was a thing). They recommended that I post here.

I'm 6 years into a medical condition that has yet to actually diagnosed. I've had extensive doctor's visits, testing, and treatment attempts. The whole picture has been confusing, but I'm going to try to condense everything as much as I can.

Symptoms:

My symptoms started actually 8 years ago - I developed bad visual snow, and didn't think much more of it.

6 years ago, I suddenly developed body-wide twitching and fasciculations. Within a few months, it turned into isometric tremors ANY time I give input to my muscles. From there, over the last 6 years, I developed (in this order): nervous system hyperactivity, breathing issues, swallowing issues, skin pain and sensitivity, extreme muscle fatigue, extreme muscle stiffness, abdominal adhesions with no known cause (which required surgery), and a progressive lack of feeling that began in my chest and spread to most of my body.

6 months ago, I developed painful, hot, swollen knees that come and go often, and makes walking generally unpleasant Two weeks ago, I took a major baseline dive - my entire body now simultaneously feels like it is badly sunburned, and also covered in cooling aloe, at the same time. All day every day now, I have limbs go numb, along with either a burning or freezing sensation. This sensation moves around various places on my body and never stops. I have become extremely reactive to temperature - I can no longer shower in water that is hotter than lukewarm, I cannot even touch my heating pad that I've slept on for years. My entire nervous system has gone completely out of control, and the pain/discomfort of feeling constantly on fire or freezing, is too much to handle. I am being subjected to absolute torment, and I cannot understand the mechanism behind what's happening, nor can I find anyone else who has experienced these same symptoms.

Testing/Results

Since the beginning of my symptoms, I have seen 7 neurologists, countless GPs, and I've even been to John's Hopkins. None have been able to officially diagnose or successfully treat me. I have had basically every form of testing you can think of, including MRIs, CTs, EMGs (including single-fiber), blood testing, a spinal tap, a tilt table test, two EEG's, genetic testing, etc.

The only real clues I've discovered are:

- Confirmed significant small fiber neuropathy (length-dependent) via skin biopsy

-Confirmed isometric tremors, detected on the latest EMG

-Confirmed orthostatic hypotension via tilt table test

- Recent (within last 2 years) positive blood test results for: Anti-DSDNA antibodies (significantly positive 3 separate times), Early Sjogren's Parotid IgG antibodies and Parotid Specific Protein IgA antibodies (only tested once), and anti retinal antibodies: Carbonic Anhydrase II, Aldolase, Enolase, Arrestin, and PKM2.

Treatments

I have had many treatment attempts, including steroids, Lyrica/Gabapentin, Trileptal, IVIG infusions, and other various medications. None have helped.

Current situation

Unfortunately, even with the numerous blood test results, rheumatologists refuse to see me simply because my ANA has never come back out of the ordinary. I am currently being seen by an Immuno-Neurologist, who's best guess is that I have some sort of unnamed, B-Cell mediated autoimmune condition. I am currently scheduled to begin Rituximab soon, because there appears to be no other option left to try.

I only recently discovered that Neuro-Sjogren's exists - it is poorly documented in the medical world. I'm not asking for an actual diagnosis here - I don't think there's a resource on this planet that can actually diagnose me. But my question for this page is this: do my symptoms sound like anything consistent with what Sjogren's / Neuro-Sjogren's is capable of doing? Has anyone had symptoms like this, or heard of stories like mine?

Thanks in advance for your responses.

New symptoms, sudden onset - entire body "menthol" sensation and rolling sensations of extreme hot and cold - what is this??

Hello all, I'm posting because I'm in the middle of a now 6 year sickness that has yet to be diagnosed. My sickness started with visual snow and isometric tremors and twitching, and has progressed continually to become pain, weakness, small fiber neuropathy, dysautonomia, etc. Here is my original thread, for back story: https://www.reddit.com/r/ChronicIllness/comments/1gocd54/4_years_of_neurological_illness_with_no_answers/

Note: I will post this on a few pages, since I still don't know what my illness actually is.

I'm posting today because about a week ago, I had a sudden change in symptoms: it's like a switch got flipped in my nervous system, and my entire body simultaneously feels like it is badly sunburned, and also covered in menthol cooling aloe, at the same time. This sensation is present 24/7 and has not stopped. In addition, I have become extremely temperature sensitive: the slightest breeze feels like an arctic wind, touching something warm feels like it is on fire, my normal shower temperature is now barely lukewarm (and it feels like it's boiling). All day, every day, I have rolling sensations that feel like various parts of my body are burning or freezing (for instance, I'll feel like my head and face are on fire for 20 mins, and then my legs will feel like they are freezing for 20 mins, and then my arm will feel like its freezing for 30 mins, etc). It has no noticeable pattern and feels like my nervous system is going completely haywire. I'm concerned because I feel like such a large, system-wide change indicates something very bad is happening.

Has anyone experienced this? My assumption up until now was that my sickness may be an autoimmune illness that is too elusive to be diagnosed. But I can't understand this. My impression is that autoimmune illness and small fiber neuropathy would spread slowly, and be localized. Up until this point, that has been how I've been progressing. This appears to be a major change in my central nervous system, since it happened everywhere at once. Can anyone help me understand what mechanism would possibly cause this? Is something that is expected with dysautonomia?

Is it possible to obtain this rail in the US?

Hey all, I've been searching forever to locate this picatinny lower AUG rail, but im not even sure it's possible to get them in the US. I believe it is a factory Steyr rail that was sold on some European models. Does anyone know if it is obtainable at all in the US? Is there some way to import one?

MR308 receiver flaw - any reason for concern?

Hey all, I have a stupid question, but I'm just going to ask it anyway. I just recently purchased an MR308-28. When I broke it down for its first cleaning, I noticed this small...flaw? Machine mark? I don't know what to actually call it. It's a well-defined quarter circle indentation, on the back of the rear takedown lug of the upper receiver. I'm not even sure how this would happen during manufacturing, but there it is.

It seems to be a minor imperfection - is there any cause for concern from this? If this had been located in an area with moving parts or tight tolerances, I would be more upset. But I imagine this would not be any reason to be concerned about any future issues?

I have many firearms, including other HKs (and multiple MRs), none with any flaws like this. My other HKs have been perfect, and I'm probably looking at it way too closely and being too OCD about it, but nonetheless. Is this considered to be within the realm of normal?

AUG A3 SA parts compatibility

Hi all, I have a few questions that I'm hoping some of you can help me with.

I have an AUG A3 M1, and I love it. I'm thinking of also getting an older AUG A3 SA Nato into the collection as well. I don't know much about the older AUGs, so I'm wondering:

-Is the AUG SA compatible with M1 parts? (Aside from the rail of course). Will an M1/M2 stock fit on an A3 SA? Does the SA use the same charging handle as the M1?

-What would it take to convert an SA Nato to a standard waffle config? I already have an extra M1 stock and trigger pack - is there anything else I would need?

-Can a current production barrel fit into an SA? I would want to pick up one of the newer 1:7 barrels to use.

Thanks in advance for your help
