Can anyone give me an overview of self hosting with docker locally

There have been a few services that I have been wanting to use that can be self hosted but most of them I have had other options. So I have been putting off diving in for a while as I have been getting overwhelmed looking at setting up docker etc. However now there is a service that I can pretty much only find as a docker app (Storyteller for making EPUB 3 with Media Overlay) and so I’m kicking my butt into gear. For not I’m installing it on my desktop which is running CachyOS.

If anyone could give me an overview of setting up docker/compose/whatever else is needed for it, I would be so thankful. My eyes have been glazing over with some of the written guides online and I’m so used to video guides just taking way longer than necessary that I haven’t looked yet.

Do any codes work for Legends?

I’m sorry if this is in the wrong sub I’m just honestly confused where this version really sits.

I started playing Crossout Legends - the Switch version of Crossout today, and knowing it’s by Gaijin made me wonder if, like with War Thunder, there was a heap of codes for new players. So I’ve looked and honestly I cannot work out it the ones for just Crossout will work on an account for Crossout Legends. Can anyone help

Does anyone else ever get a Locum out anymore?

Is it just me or do the Locum services (after hours home visit doctors) never seem to have any doctors actually available for that home visit anymore? I used to use 13sick all the time but like over the last like 3 years I think I may have gotten them once. And all of them are the same. They keep saying they service the area but then never have doctors on. Oh but Telehealth is available. Yeah sure but even my GP has a go at me when say I’ve had an ear infection and I couldn’t get in there so did a phone consult saying “it’s hard to diagnose properly over the phone.” And that’s with a Dr that knows me well, let alone someone who wouldn’t know me from a bar of soap. So Telehealth isn’t always a proper replacement. And sometimes you aren’t sick enough for urgent care, but you do need to get seen so you don’t become sick enough. Anyway, does anyone else have this issue?

What would be the most complete game metadata database that's free?

I'm doing a personal project with game data and I was wondering if anyone knew/had an opinion on which game metadata database was the most complete, both in terms of the information it has about each game, and in terms of breadth of titles across time and platforms? As this is a personal project (mostly to help me get back into coding), and because I'm on a disability pension I'm not really in a position to pay to access an api so I'm at the mercy of which databases have free access. Thanks for any advice you guys can give me

Can I get a recommendation for planning my project

So jumping back into coding has seemed daunting for a while for me. Especially since when I was learning to code it was just before the whole everything is a website era started. So it’s been taking me a while to get my head around the shift to more distributed systems.

With that said, I’ve finally found a project that I think is not too complex, but is interesting enough to me to keep me engaged to actually see it through. One thing I would like to do though is actually create some plans around all the different components so I don’t get totally lost in the weeds especially since my framing is basically Database -> Program -> GUI and API was usually just like the Java specification rather than near on every app having their own api

Anyway so does anyone have any recommendations for anything I can use to help plan out my project. I know I could just use Obsidian but like I feel I would spend forever getting it set up and never actually working on the project

Are there any web browsers with a 10ft UI?

So quite often for various reasons I am needing to stream my PC to my TV rather than sitting at my desk. This is fine when I’m gaming but as you might tell it’s not so good when I want to be able to search something online. Sure adding a browser to Steam can technically give it access to Steam Input with a controller but that doesn’t help when the UI elements are sized for my 24” monitor and not for my 42” TV. Just wondering if there are any browsers out there that have a decent “10ft” or “couch mode” or what ever UI. Steam Big Picture used to have a full browser in it, but it seems they’ve taken it out. I also came across Aura Browser which I think is part of KDE, but as I am not using KDE I cannot find it, not in the CachyOS repo nor the COSMIC store.

Why did the studio decide on euro beat for the soundtrack for the anime

I was wondering if the studios that made InitialD, especially First Stage, had ever made any comments on why eurobeat was chosen for the soundtrack of the race scenes. I mean considering how much eurobeat has become the sound of drifting and that owes a lot to Initial D I wondered how they came on euro beat for that choice

Is this a normal sound for a micathermic heater

I got this heater today (actually bought the first yesterday and exchanged for this one today) because they are supposed to be silent. However I’ve been noticing this hum coming from it that, especially due to neurodivergence, ends up making me feel kinda sick. I’m just trying to find out if this could be considered normal function for a micathermic heater, and thus would mean they aren’t a good fit for me, or maybe it’s just a teething issue or something. Either way please help before either it or me gets the yeet

How to stay warm in winter without heaters

I would like to present to everyone my very good little personal heaters. Not only are they amazingly efficient but also adorable as heck. Touch noisy, and one has a loud rumble, but all in all I think well worth it

Looking for a game to drive sideways around corners

I’ve been getting that itch to play drifting games again, especially after watching the Initial D: Legend trilogy movies. However, after playing JDM, Touge Shakai, and Initial Unity: Reborn I’ve been left wanting something a little less sim, a little more Déjà Vu. Back in the day I had an import copy of the ps2 game Initial D: Special Stage and omg I loved that. That, the Initial D arcade cabinet and Midnight Drive cabinet were amazing.

Also I have seen Initial Drift be recommended on lists and while it could be an ok drift game for some I’m not keen on the twin stick style. I feel it would feel too magical having almost direct control over the back end.

So yeah any recommendations for PC (I have a reasonable PC so lay it on me) and/or Switch would be great thanks
