Good news! I’ve just pushed a new update to TestFlight for AerialTV (v1.0.52), and it brings one of the most requested features - more sources!

Here’s what’s new in this build:

• New Local & Network Sources: You can now connect directly to Plex, Emby, Jellyfin, WebDAV, SMB & FTP servers to bring all your personal media right into AerialTV!
• Stremio Support (via AerialLink): You can also add Stremio addons via a new web portal, and they will automatically sync to your app!
• Feature requests such as pinning side menu, sort options, and better category management, hide episode spoiler descriptions, continue watching content as the hero home page background and more!

How to Add Stremio Addons (via AerialLink)

Stremio manifests can't be added in the app directly, need to add via the new web portal:

1. Head over to the Web Portal: https://aerialtv.app/portal/ (Would recommend having the app closed while you do this!)
2. Log In: Make sure you log in using the exact same mechanism (e.g., Google or Apple) that you used inside the AerialTV app. This ensures your sources sync correctly!
3. Go to your Dashboard or Sources section.
4. Click on Add Source and select AerialLink.
5. Paste your Stremio manifest URL into the field and save.
6. Within a few seconds, the source will automatically sync to your AerialTV app on your Apple TV or iOS device!

I’m really excited for you all to test these new integrations. Please let me know if you run into any issues connecting your Plex, Emby, or SMB shares, and drop your feedback in the comments! There is a lot in this one, so apologies up front if this version has a few rough edges!

Like many of you, I noticed that Viewella hasn't been updated in quite a while. First and foremost, I genuinely hope the developer is okay—running a solo app is tough, and life happens. That said, I also feel bad for everyone here who is left with an unsupported app.

I'm an indie developer myself, and I built AerialTV. It's available iOS, Android, MacOS, Apple TV and Android TV, and I actively maintain and update it based on user feedback.

The next update for AerialTV is going to include something a lot of you have asked for: support for external sources. Have got early integrations working for Jellyfin, Emby, Plex, and Stremio addons.

It's still in a very early stage, but looking for a small number of volunteers to start testing it out, and get some feedback.

Keep in mind this is an early build, so might be a little bit unstable.

• Custom Categories & Cloud Sync: You can now create custom categories, manage them directly from the category management screen, pick custom icons for them, and sync them across your devices. We've also added a custom category picker directly to the trending detail screen.
• Home Screen Overhaul: Added highly-requested "Recently Added" sections for Movies and Series (xtream only). Add your own custom categories to home screen. Full UI layout customizability to reorder things to your liking.
• Video Player Updates: Added a highly requested "Skip Episode" button right in the video player.
• Custom DNS Support: Added Custom DNS resolver support and better network failure classifications to help bypass restrictions or fix routing issues.

A big set of updates has just been pushed for the Apple iPhone & Apple TV! Between versions 1.0.30 and 1.0.43, the focus has been heavily on playback stability, expanding tvOS features, and adding highly requested quality-of-life improvements.

Here are the biggest highlights from the recent updates:

Playback & Engine Upgrades

• VLC Engine Resilience: Added a new automatic recovery/restart system for Live TV channels (restarting if a stream drops). Caching parameters have also been highly optimized specifically for Live vs. VOD streams to reduce buffering.
• Smarter Player Selection: The app is now smarter about choosing the best player backend (AVPlayer vs. VLC) based on the stream's file extension or timeshift attributes.

Apple TV Specific Enhancements

• Top Shelf Support!: Content can now be seen right from the Apple TV home screen!
• Live EPG Overlay: The TV Guide can now be viewed directly on top of the active video player without having to back out!
• Seek Previews & Mini Player: Improved the mini player experience and added seek previews to make scrubbing through content easier.
• Focus & Navigation Fixes: Completely revamped how focus works in the TV Guide and Apple TV interface for a much smoother remote experience.

iOS / General App Quality of Life

• Content Sorting & Playlist Switching: Content can now be sorted (including a new "Provider Default" sort) and playlists can be quickly switched.
• Favorites in Video Player: Favorites can now be easily toggled right from the video player controls! (The bug where favorites weren't working has also been squashed).
• Watch From Start & Now/Next: Better metadata in the player and new options to restart live programs.
• Continue Watching on Discover: The "Continue Watching" row has been added directly to the Discover tabs for jumping right back in.
• Adult Content Filters: New settings to filter out adult content from feeds.

Better Metadata & Family Sharing

• TVDB Library Matching: The matching engine has been enhanced to pull rich TVDB metadata, posters, and cast information more reliably.
• Family Sharing: Fixed issues with family sharing and improved group limit enforcement.
• Faster Loading: Gzipped TMDB API responses are now decompressed under the hood, drastically speeding up the trending genres endpoint.

• Multi-Playlist Navigation: Introduced playlist-specific browsing allowing you to toggle between "merged" (all playlists) and "separate" views. Added a quick provider picker in the TV sidebar for rapid playlist switching.
• Content Sorting & Filtering: Added options to sort content by Title (A-Z/Z-A), Release Year (Newest/Oldest), Rating, and Date Added. (dependent on provider metadata)
• Adult Content Filter: Introduced a dedicated filter for adult content.
• Favorite Toggle: Added a quick "favorite" toggle directly to the video player controls.
• Trailers on Trending: Added the ability to view trailers directly from the Trending section.
• Old School Channel Surf: Implemented classic channel surfing option (up/down on remote) for a more traditional TV experience.

• Theming: - You can now pick from five accent presets (Ocean, Forest, Crimson, etc.). It’s not just a logo change—it swaps out every focus ring, progress bar, and highlight across the entire UI to match your style.
• Catchup Support: I’ve implemented full navigation for Catchup programs. You can now click on past programs in the guide to start a time-shifted stream.
• Smarter Sorting: I finally fixed the sorting logic—"Channel 10" no longer comes before "Channel 2."
• SMB Reliability: I've fixed the error handling around SMB  shares to make recording and backups much more stable.
• EPG Speed: Optimized the guide grid so it doesn't stutter on lower-spec TV boxes.
• Yet more sync fixes - this should be much more reliable now
• Keyboard display bug - made sure keyboard dismisses when it should
• Home page - you can choose order and hide home page items

Hey Everyone - just a quick update to let you know pushed a new version of AerialTV (v1.0.30) onto TestFlight, and it’s packed with some of the most requested features from the community - working hard to make the app feel more personal and performant across iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV.

Here is what’s new:

🎨 Personalize Your Experience

• Dynamic Theme System: You can now choose your own accent color! Whether you prefer Sienna, Ocean, Emerald, Violet, or Ruby, you can now skin the app to match your style. Will build on this in future so you can pick your own colours.
• Homepage customization: choose which sections you want to see and the order
• Refined tvOS Interface: The Apple TV player has been redesigned with a sleeker "pill" style control set and explicit skip duration labels (30s) so you know exactly how far you're jumping.

📺 Enhanced Viewing Features

• Multiview: Watch multiple channels simultaneously (perfect for sports weekends!).
• Quick surf menu: just press down whilst watching a live channel to pull up a quick channels menu
• Catchup Guide UI: We’ve overhauled the Catchup interface. It’s now much easier to browse and play back past broadcasts directly from your guide.
• Better Organization: Improved channel grouping and sorting logic to handle even the largest playlists with ease. Groups 4K, UHD, FHD, HD channel variants into one which you can then switch between easily in the player.

⚡ Speed & Stability

• Playlist loading: Rebuilt the Xtream API parser from the ground up. Loading should be significantly faster, and the EPG more stable
• Landscape UI Improvements: rejigged a few of the screens that didn't work so well in landscape mode on iPhone, more to do on these....

👪 Family Sharing & Sync

• In app Family Sharing! You can now manage your group, invite members, and keep your settings/favorites in sync across all family devices.
• Syncing across platforms should be much more reliable now for both family members and individuals.

AerialTV is now localized in over 20+ languages, making it easier for everyone to enjoy.
