Where did the idea that the rhizomes HAVE to be exposed to light for them to properly grow pitchers come from? These have been buried under live sphagnum for 2 seasons and my Leah and Supermax have both pushed past 3 ft on multiple traps with zero compromise in structural rigidity………… what say the community on this beautiful 90° day in North Carolina?!?!
New to me heat!!!! S. x “Cornerstone” (red) and S. x “Megalodon” (green) from plant everything carnivorous and flytrapking
Last but not least!!! Leah Wilkerson!!! I also purchased this plant from Mike Sprouse in summer 2023 where it remained potted. I decided to build this bog with it as a centerpiece and it rose to the occasion!! First few pics are from spring 2024 on the day that the bog was first built (1/28/24) and the last few pics are from May 2026. Thing is almost 3ft🥹🥹🥹. Look at how much the rhizome has grown in 2 calendar years. I’ll more than likely remove the Flava and minor at the end of this season
I got this seed grown S. Minor var. okefenokeensis from flytrapking in summer 2023. It was added to this bog in Spring 2024 (circled) and the last few pics are of it in May 2026
This little Flava was given to me by Mike Sprouse in late 2023. I put it in this bog when I built it in early 2024. The last few pics are how it looks 2 year later in May 2026
S/O to the ICPS for inviting me further help make growing sarracenia and Dionaea a little less scary for for beginners!!!!
