Colocasia cultivar 'Illustris' in the background.
They've been blooming since the spring! They're so dramatic and gorgeous
Sharing this beauty. It has really taken off this summer and is putting out some kind of bloom.
The current darkest dahlia in my garden and my first year growing it. Hoping for a good tuber yield so I can grow even more next year!
Edit: Third picture is Diva, a gorgeous deep purple.
Another of the goth plants this year! My "goth garden" varieties include the tomatoes, purple basil, purple carrots, and purple cauliflower.
These "midnight snack" tomatoes start green, then black, then get a slight red tint. The tops always have a pretty bright red design where the tops were. The insides are pink and the taste is so sweet, not acidic!
What are you growing this year? If you are like me, what are you already excited to grow next year? 😅 (for me, a few that I want to do are Jack-in-the-Pulpit, maroon calendula, and some sort of night blooming flower).
The bloom is about 4” and its color/sheen is so rich and dark and velvety.
My cephalotus follicularis is looking very goth from getting so much sunlight.
My friend gave me this root ball in the spring. The foliage is nice and dark, and the flowers just started blooming.
The Jose Puig Gibasis is growing and the most gothiest. She’s like midnight and I love seeing the lime green outlines. I know Jose Puigs are usually sold as tradescantia however they are not. They do trail and are closely related. I would say cousins because gibasis and tradescantia are in the same plant family. At least that’s what I read.
Spooky is looking more like a bridal veil plant as she grows. So pretty!
Just stumbled across this sub after posting a pic of my Dahlias grown from seed on another sub. Someone commented that they looked like goth plants! So thought I’d share here too ❤️
It's such a dark color, but still almost fluorescent! Like, I didn't use any filters here. It confuses my eyes. I can't wait until all of the buds start opening!
This particular bed is where I grow my sturdiest most storm-proof flava and moorei hybrids because it is front and center. The flava ('Lois' x 'Bontanique') is incredibly sturdy with roughly 2' tall pitchers. It takes a truly abusive storm to knock down even a few pitchers. It also tends to make a second round of tube growth later in the season, which I really like.
