Pulley System Recommendation

Pulley System Recommendation

Let me get this part out of the way - If space and money weren't a consideration, I'd just get the Bells of Steel cable tower and call it a day. Unfortunately, space AND money are considerations, so here I am looking at other options.

I'm working with a squat rack like this one - Sunny Health and Fitness SF-BH6802 - I got it dirt cheap on marketplace and it's great for everything I need it to do, doesn't take a ton of room, etc. First hiccup is that it's a 60mm x 60mm riser setup, so finding things for it can be fiddly. Second being that I have no idea how well this style of setup works with pulley systems like Bullet Pulley or the like, as I generally see those on four post setups. Have folks used something like those on this style rack? Some other option? I am fine with some degree of jank - I'd just like to get some pulling / rowing options into the space and I feel like a pulley system is probably the quick and dirty way to do so.

DFW Remix Questions from a Noob

I read the write up for DFW Remix and it sounds good to my brain as a starting point for getting into this all.

Problem is I’m a visual guy, and I’m doing this pretty much solo and not ready to ask for form checks from strangers on the internet.

Is there a good video / series that breaks this down and shows the routine? I’m sure I can find videos for each piece here and there, but if there’s a single source that’d be handy AF.

Guess it’s time to start swinging then

I know they aren’t the best. I’m already planning to dremel some imperfections around the handles so they don’t screw up my hands. But at $17 a piece for a pair of 8kg to get started, it was basically impossible to pass up and now I’ve got beaters I can keep at work or in the car for messing in-between messing around (once I save up and order the BoS adjustable ones - it’s a space thing inasmuch as anything).

Heart rate / fitness tracking - no wrist, ring, or ankle

Looking for something to help track heart rate and fitness while doing some of the activities I do - fencing based fighting, weightlifting, kettlebell. I’ve got an Apple Watch and it’s fine some of the time, but I can’t wear it during the heavier activities I do because of other gear or similar constraints. What’s my best (non bank breaking) bet for this that doesn’t end up around a wrist, ankle, or finger? Arm bands aren’t ideal either as it would get struck during one of the sports. I’m assuming a chest band, but I dunno how well those stay put or work for weightlifting in terms of being in the way. Also, I’m a big dude 50”+ chest. Appreciate any recs.

Tacfit or F45? One or two?

Local marketplace has some Tacfit kettlebells and some F45 kettlebells, comparable prices for each, both competition style, both in the weight that I’m looking to start with, both available as single or pair. Any strong reason to get one over the other?

Curious about KBs, Wondering which way to go

I'm 45, pretty overweight, and until February of this year I hand't done any real exercise in 15 years or so. Started doing lightsaber based fencing (yes, it's a thing, gets me moving a lot) and some strength training there, so I've setup a small home gym. I've been /loving/ landmine work because it can be dynamic and works a whole bunch of the body. I'm also way stronger than I keep expecting myself to be. KBs seem /super/ interesting to me -but- I don't know if I'll dig it or hate it or whatever.

In a world where money weren't a thing (and / or I could find more of them on marketplace) I'd just pick up some competition bells (8kg or 12kg to start until I get shoulder strength up) -or- something like the Bells of Steel adjustable.

What I'm wondering is if I should just pick up a 20-25ish pound kettlebell of any sort as cheap as possible and give it a short or am I just going to set myself up to hate it? Should I wait and pick up a decent competition bell to set myself up for a better experience? Worth getting a pair up front, or just the one? Appreciate any guidance!

Everything is a FB Marketplace find save the yellow 35lb plates (Walmart for about $0.60 a pound on sale), the completely questionable, gray “adjustable weight” set on the rack (Amazon), and the black bag which has a gym ring / strap set. I’ve got 55s coming tomorrow and I’m waiting on 45s to go on sale for dirt cheap - seeing how many “new in box” for a buck a pound on my local marketplace, it’s bound to roll around again. Still hunting for both a fixed set of dumbbells and a set of adjustable ones. I’d love an adjustable bench, too, but $100 for the fixed was a damn good deal and now there’s no way I’ll settle for cheapo adjustable, so saving up / stalking marketplace it is. I’ve got a 6’ bar, but it’s not wide enough to be rack able (was included with the black bumpers).

There are some other odds and ends I want - uclip, or similar, to use with the landmine attachment. A row handle and maybe a Viking press too. Jack stand for landmine, change plates for the Olympic dumbbells, deadlift wedges.

And yes, I know the hooks and safety arms are backwards - that’s just to keep them out of the way when not in use so no one brains themselves on them.
