Italy Travel Strike Sept. 25-26

I just recently learned of a strike happening on the day that my wife and I are supposed to land in Milan. Plane is supposed to land Sept. 26th around 1pm and the plan was to then take a train to Lake Garda where we have our first accommodation. With this strike, I am worried about our ability to get to Lake Garda (train stop at Peschiera). I have looked into the current trenitalia guaranteed trains but have not seen a train that would get us to our destination from what I can tell. Does anyone have any advice or suggestions for us? I am welcome to anything, just trying to get a better understanding of the situation. TIA!

Val Gardena visit

My wife and I are visiting Italy for the first time Sept. 26th - Oct. 6th. Our most anticipated part of this trip is being in Val Gardena (staying close to Ortisei) for 4 nights! We have looked into some hikes but I wondered if there were any that you would recommend outside of Seceda, Sassolungo, and Alpe di Siusi. Thanks in advance!

Staying in Verona or Lake Garda?

Wife and I will be in northern Italy Sept 26th-Oct 6th.

We had planned to stay in Verona for the first 3 nights of the trip. However, I have been looking more into changing that and us staying somewhere around Lake Garda. We love food and drink, we love exploring cities but also really enjoy being outdoors and site seeing.

Another option we talked about was staying in Verona and doing a day trip to Lake Garda knowing that we wouldn't get to see much of the lake. The next stop is Val Gardena for the main leg of the trip so proximity to public transit is also a bit important as we will not have a car.

Any advice or direction would be greatly appreciated. TIA

Northeast Italy Activites and Experiences

My wife and I are planning a trip to Italy. Landing Milan Sept 26th and flying out of Venice Oct 6th. We plan to spend the first 3 nights in Verona, the next 4 nights in Ortisei/Santa Cristina, then 2 nights in Trieste and our last night in Venice.

I wanted to ask you folks what are some of your favorite places to go or things to experience in those areas. We have some ideas for activities now like hiking in the Dolomites and visiting Lake Garda...we enjoy being outdoors and seeing sights and we're both foodies.

Please be as specific or as general as you want, I just wanted to get some real advice and suggestions from people who have experienced these areas. Thanks in advance!

Traveling Northern and Central Italy

My biggest question is: Should we rent a car or can we go without?

My wife and I are wanting to plan a trip for our anniversary this year during the end of September/beginning of October (looking at 29th-6th, so not a ton of time). We have been wanting to visit Italy for a while now and are more interested in hiking around the Dolomites (anywhere around the Alps really), checking out Venice, and potentially visiting the Tuscany region, and then likely flying out of Milan.

Is renting a car going to be necessary for some of these areas or could we do it with only public transit?

Alright, the mrs and I are giving new Sichuan a 2nd try....what should we get?

Edit: thank you everyone for the many responses!! We went back for our 2nd try and got dry pot chicken, Sichuan chicken, and the pork soup dumplings. The dry pot chicken and dumplings were BOMB and the Sichuan chicken was good but this time around was definitely a better experience. We will be going back soon and try some of the other suggestions in the comments. Thanks again!!!
