Old mine designs

Old mine designs

I finally acquired my dream diamond of an Old Mine after giving up and settling on my original emerald cut bezel design. Now that I found an old mine I'm considering spiraling from a full bezel solitaire emerald to something like this - I want a bezel for everyday durability, but dont think old mine looks as good in a bezel.

Show me your old mine designs to give me more ideas. Especially if you have a bezel. Do your prongs ever get caught on things ? I'm pretty rough with my hands.

14k yellow gold scratching

A jeweler told me today that 14k yellow gold will scratch like crazy between buffing them put. I'm debating adding a little engraving that will help hide scratches a bit. Would love to see your solid 14k yellow gold bands and how "bad" or not bad they might be too see realistic daily wear.

Diamond quality

I caved to a tiktok auction for this 3ct emerald, F VVS2. Has not arrived yet. What do we think about its reflections ? Make me feel better about my impulse buy!

Price check

Is this a good price for this stone ? He went down to $375 after this too.

Has anyone bought from tiktok auctions before and what was your experience like ?

I'm comfortable with some of the sellers, check the certs while they're live and I understand the risks so really just asking for a price eval on this particular stone and hearing from anyone who has gone this route before.

14k weight

I've been looking into a few Jewelers including reputable Chinese vendors and a local jeweler said that the Chinese ones will be hollow gold inside for the quotes I'm getting. Can anyone advise what this should weigh to not be hollow ? Jeweler said 12+ grams, the Chinese vendors have been telling me around 5.6g.

How does this stone look?

Color D VVS2 3.5 carats

Is the dark middle just the angle of the video ? I know its because of the flat culet but wondering if this will always look dark

Experience with high setting stones

Help! Im designing my ring and I have convinced myself that i need a bezel setting for security of the center stone because im pretty rough with my hands and always knocking my jewelry around, im the type that loses press on nails easier than most because im always hitting something lol.

However I found a compass prong setting that I LOVE but it feels so insecure. I know the first obvious answer is craftsmanship will affect the security but for the setting in general, anyone without a bezel and a more free standing stone, what has your experience been with damage / catching it on things etc? Obviously diamonds themselves are hard so worried more about prong and frame damage than the stone. Or losing the stone !
