Purser stopped by my seat and personally introduced himself/herself? -I’m impressed!

Does anybody know if this is typical?

I’m flew two different flights last week (economy) - and the first time on Qatar….The purser stopped by my seat, introduce themselves and addressed me by name and thank me for flying with them, all before takeoff . I am oneworld emerald, and minimal Avios points. Additionally, the flight attendant came to me on both flights before takeoff and asked for my choice of meal and didn’t ask the nearby passengers.

I did notice the purser stop by and greet another passenger too…. maybe more behind me, but I didn’t notice.

This was a fantastic way to recognize oneworld status if that’s the case but either way I was very impressed.!!

Was told this was a ridiculous idea in another thread on this subreddit , so I thought I’d post a few more details separately for everyone.

We are working on prototypes and have a patent pending for a track system designed for aircraft service trolleys.

S.T.A.B.L.E. Track™
Secure Trolley Aisle Base Locking Engagement

The concept is to allow the trolley to remain more stable during cabin service. If unexpected turbulence occurs, the trolley would stay secured to the aircraft floor rather than bouncing, sliding, or tipping over.

Yes, we understand that loose items — especially anything sitting on top of the trolley — could still move around. This is still in the early design and testing stage, and those details are part of the development process.

And yes, of course, flight attendants would still need to secure themselves during a turbulence event. The idea is not to replace crew safety procedures, but to reduce one more hazard in the cabin so they do not also have to immediately worry about an unsecured trolley.
