I apologize in advance for the somewhat vague and generalized title, but something occurred last week and I feel the need to spread the word. Or at least remind people of the importance of your audiologist.

Some weeks ago, I began experiencing some aggressive inner ear issues, first on my left, then on my right. A series of steroid injections cleared up the issue on the left, but failed to help on the right side. My ENT's team and I will give this some time to see if it's just a temporary issue.

One my my doctors recommended I visit the audiologist who provided me with my hearing aids, which are Phonak Infinio Audeos. They suggested having the right aid internally adjusted so the sound levels are equal in both ears.

I made that visit, providing my audiologist with the most recent audiogram from my doctor. Linda, who is a co-owner of the location, also pulled down a trove of data from Phonak which had been collected via their app, which I use extensively. That data tracked all the various adjustments I made to paint a picture of my daily use. Combined with the audiogram, a number of tweaks were made.

( I'm generally extremely protective of personal information, but this is one case where I'm OK with something gathering a lot of data on me ).

I cannon say enough what a difference that visit made. I've had these aids for about a year, and in addition to the volume level adjustment, her Target system made a number of other changes that simply have these things working so much better and providing me with far better hearing in a number of different conditions.

I just wanted to use this post as a way of reminding all my fellow users here - and especially new users - to make sure they take advantage of the technology and visit your audiologist for your necessary adjustments. I though these hearing aids were pretty great already. Now things are even better.

I'm reading these AT&T proposals to lower prices, so the 5 GB plan looks more enticing (maybe). This leads me to a question:

I have 1 Gig service at home. My service is completely in bypass now, using my own fiber gateway and and SFP+ with 8311. I am never going back.

If I decided to upgrade to the 5 gig service, I assume they're going to want to upgrade by BGW320 to the 620. How would this affect my current setup? Would I have to connect to the 620 to start, then just re-configure my SFP+ to spoof the new gateway?

Or can I just grab the appropriate numbers off the 620 and use that to update my SFP+, without ever plugging the 620 in?

Re-configuring the SFP is trivial, and I'd like to have zero network downtime if possible.

I emailed the ticket office about this, but they haven't responded. They have a game offer for the Tottenham game for about $900 and change. The website mentions a game ticket and a pub rally. Does anyone know if the cost includes any travel/flight/hotel arrangements? I have a feeling it does not, which would make the game ticket expensive.

Anyone know more about this?

This post is not a question or a complaint or anything normally seen here. I just wanted to take a moment and praise Immich and the developers.

I've been using it since last summer. We were visiting Italy from the US in July, so I didn't get to see the server in action much then. But my wife is currently on 12-day trip with our daughter in Poland. I was interested to see how her photos would sync up here at home 5000 miles away.

Her Pixel 6 was set up to sync via WiFi. I knew they would have good connections at various points, but the longer connections at night while sleeping turned out to be the most productive. They arrived last Wednesday, so only a small number came in that night. But starting the next day, they began pouring in regularly.

I suppose no one familiar with Immich is actually surprised at this, and I'm not either.

But I was a Google Photos user (well, still am slightly, just for temporary backups) since the app first appeared and had to deal with some of the things about that ecosystem, as well as their incessant decision-making on creating albums on the fly, highlighting some subjects and adding quirky little features like animations and "memory" slideshows (which always managed to select the worst quality images in my collections).

Immich has many great features but doesn't shove anything in your face or take liberties with your photos. Immich just works.

To the developers: thank you for all your hard work. You are appreciated.

I'm in the process of setting up a new SFP+ module with a UniFi fiber gateway. I worked through the setup detailed on the Pon wiki, and when I finally attached the fiber line to the SFP, the gateway displayed no internet connection.

I'm walking through the configuration again to see what may be the issue.

One thing that I noted that may be an issue is the "Hardware Version" setting for the BGW that needs to be configured in the SFP. Every site I've looked at shows this value as being "BGW320-500_2.1" or something very similar.

However, on the system information page on the BGW, it shows a 14-digit number like "02001F00460050". The SFP configuration page even says, for the Hardware Version field "Hardware version string sent in various MEs (up to 14 characters)."

And this has 14 characters. So, I'm confused on this issue. If the fiber network is looking for what's in this this string, I'm not certain what's correct.

Does anyone have a definitive answer for this so I can get this working?

I know there are AT&T employees who lurk here, so maybe they can provide some insight.

I've used AT&T's 1 Gb service for a few years. Currently playing $70/month. I really want to go to the 2 Gb level. There is a fiber competitor here (Jacksonville, FL region) called IQ Fiber. I've compared plan costs and their prices for the higher levels are much lower than AT&T's.

I would rather stick with AT&T and wondered about their willingness to negotiate on a competitor's price.
