No gaming on OLED!(?)

No gaming on OLED!(?)

I just got a Sony a95L to replace our basement tv, I’ve always wanted an OLED and am looking forward to using it for cinema.

But, my daughter like to play video games (usually Minecraft) down there with her friends, and I said she wouldn’t be able to do that anymore because of the risk of burn-in. I will set up our old tv in a corner for her to play games.

Then I saw this subreddit—OLEDs are ok for gaming?

Should I trust this mount with 80% more weight?

I had this mount installed about 10 years ago by Best Buy, they seem to have done a nice job. It held a 60 inch Vizio TV that weighed about 55 pounds. I just got a new 77 inch Bravia OLED that weighs about 80 pounds. I had been planning on just tearing this mount out and using a stand instead, but maybe I was being too hasty and I’m thinking that it might make sense to use this amount at least for now that’s provided that it can take the weight increase.

I honestly can’t remember what type of amount it was or what the stated weight limit was. And it looks like the bracket on the back of the TV is using the outermost holes so it may not even fit my new TV anyway.

Wondering if anybody here may be recognizes it or has more experience with this. This seems like it could be one of those things where they’re generally way over engineered and can take much more weight than you think they can, as I’m sure this thing is stud mounted, and it feels very solid. Then again definitely not worth the risk if it’s a dicey situation.

EDIT: looks to be a Samus VLF 613 mount with a 125 pound capacity

Is an A95L 77 at $3495 USD a good choice, or should I be looking at more up-to-date models?

This TV just seems to be at the top of so many lists, and it’s finally available for less than $4000. But maybe there are better options now? It’s for a dark basement for what that’s worth.

GFX100RF + Ricoh GW4 WA adapter

This combo gives you about a ~25mm field of view, or 21mm in FF terms. Initial results seem better than good enough; maybe just a touch softer than the GF20-35mm f/4 but for sometime like me that barely uses that lens, I think it could be a more than adequate replacement.

Takes less than 30 seconds to mount even if you’ve got the hood + filter equipped, so not much worse than a lens change. Plus you don’t have an exposed sensor so it’s more ‘comfortable’ to do in wind/dust.

Is it just me or is the Dino team up not great?

Maybe a skill issue on my part, but I feel like aiming is really tough when riding Dino, you’re much more exposed, and can’t use your mobility/escape kit.
