[Hiring] Contract Designer for a Marketing Agency in Dallas, TX — Ongoing Agency Work / Remote

We’re a Dallas-based marketing agency looking for an experienced independent designer in Texas to become our go-to freelance design partner.

This is not a full-time job. Instead, the designer we select will get first shot at bidding on our design projects before we send them elsewhere. The goal is to build a long-term relationship with one designer who can handle most of our ongoing creative needs while remaining completely independent and free to work with their own clients.

Projects will vary and may include:

  • Website and landing page designs
  • Infographics
  • Social media graphics
  • Digital and paid-social ads
  • Blog/editorial graphics
  • Marketing collateral
  • Occasional branding, logos, presentations, and other creative work

You must have a strong portfolio that includes website design, infographics, and social media/ad creative. We need someone versatile who can work across different industries and brand styles—not someone whose portfolio is primarily logos or illustration.

You must currently live in Texas, with preference given to designers in or near Dallas – Fort Worth. The work itself is fully remote.

This is a U.S.-based independent contractor opportunity, and we are not accepting international/offshore applicants for this particular role.

Projects will typically be priced individually. You’ll be able to review the scope, quote the work, and accept or decline each project. There are no guaranteed hours or minimum project volume.

If interested, post a comment with:

  • Your portfolio
  • Your city in Texas
  • A quick summary of your experience
  • Your typical rates/pricing structure
  • Your general availability

Bonus points for agency experience, Figma/web UX experience, WordPress familiarity, experience editing and improving on GenAI designs, and strong conversion-focused landing page work.

We’re looking for quality and reliability over the cheapest rate and would ideally like to find someone we can work with for years.

Greenbelt Armadillo Update: Neighbor is hunting them with a gun. Is this legal here?

I was just out walking my dog when I saw a man with a gun in the silhouette of a street light so I shouted at him what he was doing. It was a neighbor who has been complaining about the armadillos lately carrying a pellet rifle. He had just killed an armadillo and left it for dead on the sidewalk next to another neighbors yard. He tried pacifying me by claiming the animal had been in his yard then by saying he was just trying to scare it, not kill it. He also claimed it's our fault the armadillos are getting into the neighborhood (not sure about that).

Is this legal, to hunt them in our neighborhood like this? It is too close to my house for comfort. I'm not anti-gun or anti-hunting, but in my neighborhood? in someone else's yard?

Update: I went back to photograph the corpse but it was gone only a couple of small blood stains on the sidewalk, his yard smells extremely rotten the stench is strong walking by it. My guess is he's killed at least 3 or 4 armadillos now. I've decided to place game cameras in our area of the greenbelt and see if there's anything I can find that way to keep the armadillos from their property.

How do we save the greenbelt armadillos?

We live in one of the houses that backs up to the greenbelt. One of our joys living here has been seeing all of the armadillos come into our neighborhood at night out of the greenbelt area.

It has come to my attention that many of our neighbors, some who have been here for decades, are now having the armadillos trapped in their yards and removed from the greenbelt and relocated elsewhere in Texas all because they dig little holes to find food. We had noticed fewer armadillos this year and wondered if something was going on when a neighbor told us about the pest control trapping operation going on in our area for the past year.

This is extremely saddening to me, is there any law against this or anyway to keep homeowners from exterminating the natural wildlife in the greenbelt?

Update: I just found out some neighbors are just straight up killing them when they come out of the greenbelt. FFS if you don't want to live near nature, don't buy a house here. Like living next to Yellowstone and complaining about bears.

Apparently landscaping companies are quoting as much as $10,000 to fix the small holes they dig and residents are citing prices like this for the reason to get more aggressive.

Texas Business Question of the Week: What Marketing Channel, Type, or Platform Have You Found Most Effective in Growing Your Business?

Let's discuss marketing, a topic on the tip of everyone's tongues these days. With a plethora of students graduating in the field from Texas Universities, hundreds of agencies, thousands of consultants, and tens of thousands of professionals working in marketing departments across the state - marketing is a plentiful resource in Texas.

However, many businesses cite marketing as the thing they believe they spend too much money on, question the performance of various channels, or out right admit they have no clue if marketing efforts are working or not.

In this weekly topic we'd love for you to share insights on your own marketing efforts. What has worked and what hasn't in the past for you? You can of course keep your business name private.

A marketing channel is a broad type of marketing such as "organic search", "paid social media", or "mass media advertising"

A type of marketing is more specific marketing type such as "organic Google Maps", "Viral video paid social media", or "billboard advertising".

A marketing platform is the specific software platform / app / website used to facilitate a marketing channel or type. Not all channels or types have an associated platform and instead require an agency/consultant or inhouse sales team. Examples might include hiring an SEO consultant for "organic Google Maps" or "organic search", Meta Ads platform for "paid social media" or "viral video paid social media", or Blip for "mass media advertising" or "billboarding advertising".

Printify Alternative? Apparently they deleted all of my designs?

What kind of piece of shit company deletes all of our creations like this?

My hobby store had the payment method turned off without my knowledge (WooCommerce deprecated Stripe plugin and introduced "WooPay" which required resetting it up) but I have been too busy to do anything about it.

Not a big deal, just a hobby for me. Turned it back on, got orders from customers and even ran ads and made my own orders - now people are angry and I cannot fulfill their orders.

This is the most ridiculous bullshit I've ever seen in this space ever.

Fuck Printify and fuck Printful, any non-shitty providers out there?

Edit: Going market rate for a store with 600 designs at 300 DPI would be about $0.02 / month. They could have sold "design hosting" for $5 a month and allowed artists / hobbyists / low sale merchants to retain all product setups while generating a giant profit. What a stupid decision.

Edit 2: I did reach out to Printify customer support chat bot (very upset and cursing I am afraid, my bad), someone there has claimed to have restored many of my products, it's only about 5 designs or so but credit where it is due at least they did something.
