6 year project

I’ve been working on this project since the COVID lockdowns, and after keeping it private for years I finally decided it was time to launch it.

I hope this doesn’t break any community rules. I’m not here to promote a business or sell anything. I’m genuinely looking for feedback from people who care about tiki.

Right now the site includes drink recipes, tiki bars, events, and a blog, but this is really just the beginning. One of my long-term goals is to build out the history behind tiki, including the artists, carvers, and the evolution of the style that has always been the backbone of the culture.

It’s very much day one. There are undoubtedly bugs, missing information, and things that can be improved. I even took the risk of enabling comments because I think conversation and community are more valuable than trying to make everything perfect before anyone sees it.

If you have a few minutes to look around, I’d really appreciate any honest feedback. If you spot an error, know of a bar, event, or recipe I’ve missed, or have ideas for features you’d like to see, I’d love to hear them.

Thanks for taking a look, and I hope you find something useful.

How can I make this Vancouver events site better?

I have been working on this thing for 4 months and it gets 30-50 visitors a day on slow days and 1000 on other days; but I really want to be able to sustain it and build it up to be the ultimate Vancouver events site that isn’t loaded with ads and crap that wasted time looking around.. I made it so you can add an event to your calendar with a click, select multiple random dates to filter your free days, and would love suggestions. I guess I’m going to have to add photos but my original vision was data heavy and clean but I guess I might have to add band photos, landscapes for places etc? Any input is highly valued.
