AITA for leaving my boyfriend alone at my bsf's wedding?

hello swarm intelligence, pls help me understand if I am overreacting to my boyfriends behaviour or have just been an asshole and need to apologize profusely.

We went to my best friend's wedding a couple of weeks ago and since then I've been mulling over what happened there.
To start, I am a pretty anxious person and I think he is very avoidant/insecure. The wedding was an event which I have been looking forward to for months and was very very important for me, which he knew for sure. He is normally very sweet and caring and I think really loves me, but has a hard time with his emotions, stonewalling and struggling to communicate what he needs. Generally I think I could be more supportive and show him I care about him better, but we are actively working on that.

At the wedding, I wanted to have fun, show up for my best friend, generally be there for her and just dance/show her we had a great time. I tried engaging my bf numerous times and get him to dance/have fun but that didnt really work. (also he says I didnt try to engage with him).

--> What he says my mistakes were (which I recognise and think he is right about) were not involving him enough, not giving him enough attention, and generally not being with him enough during the night but staying on the dance floor with my friends. Also he says when we are together in a group of people I tend to slip away (maybe go to the front to get a better look) and he can't and won't follow me all the time as that doesn't feel good for him. To be fair, he didn't know many people at the wedding.

His reaction was being moody and pissed (which you can tell very obviously on his face), being outside smoking for most of the night and at one point (very late like 1am) just going to the car and staying in there without even telling me, and at the end of the night staying in the car and not say goodbye to the bride and groom.

I feel like on such an important day, he could have just "ignored" his emotions as we are all grown-ups and just be happy that I was having fun, and maybe talk about this topic the next day. The fact that he is willing to kind of ruin the night for me is a very big red flag, as I am scared it will happen again in the future on even more important days. Is it wrong? Somehow in my head it sounds both completely right and completely insane. I don't mind being told that I'm wrong but pls help me get more clarity!

Edit: she did not have a bridal party, we (me and 6/7 other friends) were her "unofficial" one and were also invited before other guests to take extra pictures ecc.. She did have a maid of honor tho!
