Match Thread: Oakland Roots vs. New Mexico United (July 4, 2026)

Peter Wilson starts on the subs list, which is an encouraging sign after leaving their June 20 game at Phoenix on a stretcher. Five total changes from Phoenix: No Florian Valot, Danny Trejo, or Bertin Jacquesson in the 18, leading to Tucker Lepley, Wolfgang Prentice, and Faysal Bettache getting the nod. Tyler Gibson also moves to the bench, and Keegan Tingey gets the start. Julian Bravo also gets the start. Curious to see the alignment. Kendall McIntosh also gets his second straight start. A lot of youth on the subs list with Rosic, Martinez, and Wachs.

Realistic CF targets?

It feels like the general consensus is the striker spot needs to be the primary target of the offseason. But, I struggle determining who is a realistic option, and who can make an impact to get this club back on track with what they may be willing/capable to spend.

My dream would be Osimhen, but that is definitely not a realistic possibility at this point. Maybe that changes. But is pairing Solanke with another CF still the approach? Can the club afford to make another 60 million gamble and it not work out?

It feels like something has got to give, and they need to overspend at that position in particular.

What say you? Who are your striker options to consider this offseason? What do you envision Tottenham doing?

Live Blog: Oakland Roots vs. Sacramento Republic, USL Cup (May 16, 2026)

Some notable changes: Peter Wilson, Wolfgang Prentice, Raphael Spiegel, and Bobosi Byaruhanga are getting rest. With that, Jackson Kiil gets the nod at striker, Kendall McIntosh in goal, while Ali Elmasnaouy and Tommy McCabe start in the midfield. Tucker Lepley also starts, likely at LW. Florian Valot also starting in the 10, and Faysal Bettache on the right. The back line looks like Tyler Gibson and Keegan Tingey in the fullback roles, while Michael Edwards and Neveal Hackshaw start at center back.

Here are my Talking Points from Oakland Roots' 2-2 tie with Loudoun United after Peter Wilson's late header goal. Notes on the second straight second-half struggles, Jesus de Vicente's offensive success and locking down the left back role, the attacking options, Faysal Bettache, Florian Valot, and Danny Trejo

Ryan Martin makes two changes from the last league game, but some notable pivoting around the field. Keegan Tingey gets the start at right back, while Neveal Hackshaw returns to the CB spot opposite of Michael Edwards. This means Tommy McCabe returns to the midfield opposite Bobosi Byaruhanga. Wolfgang Prentice is also back in the forward line on the left with Bertin Jacquesson on the right. Jesus de Vicente gets the nod at left back, while Danny Trejo likely moves into the CAM role.
