Tips for transitioning into advertising copywriting

Hi all

I'm a London-based freelance copywriter and editor who has predominantly worked in-house with brands in their marketing department. Over my career I've generally sat in content-writing roles - web, CRM, social copy, campaign taglines. Along with a lot of branded longform content for publications.

I have no agency experience but would like to move more into the world of advertising and/or branding. Just wondering if anyone has any tips about how best to go about this, or courses I could take. I have a big portfolio of creative work just not exactly the right work.

Did the Richard E Grant blunder ruin the show for you?

Saw this funny article by The Daily Mash and I wondered if there's some truth in it.

When we saw the dramatic scene of the traitors in the church choosing their third, I had the sense that a lot of the tension had been sucked out of it due to Richard's big mistake. A big part of me feels like he just needs to go now just for the game to get properly going.

Do you feel the same, or do you think him bungling it so bad is just part of the entertainment?

JKR’s mate Kellie-Jay Keen blocks Muslims from praying

Announces ‘I’m an islamophobe, not a racist’ to a group of men praying in Hyde Park and later shared the video saying ‘on your knees, bitches’.

Just so we can be clear about the company JKR keeps.

Tyra's public shaming of Brittani

After Brittani's meltdown at panel and her near-elimination, we see the discussion between the judges where Tyra is outvoted. Tyra then makes a huge performance out of explaining the vote system and how it is not a 'monarchy' where she is the sole deciding judge, proceeding to make very clear to Brittani and Mikaela her preference.

Obviously Brittani behaved poorly and deserved criticism (I actually think they didn't even need to fake choosing a bad photo of her and could have just put her in the bottom two anyway). But Tyra seems to needlessly personalize the issue by saying things like 'I have a serious problem with how these judges voted' or 'Oh I wish you would have stayed' to Mikaela. Just comes across as really mean and spiteful, emphasising her own feelings rather than framing it as a professional issue. It also didn't help Mikaela knowing that, plus it wasn't even true, Tyra was just saying it to shame Brittani.

I can't figure out if this is genuine, or if Brittani had already been earmarked as the winner at that point and Tyra was just trying to create a storyline. What do you guys think?
