Officially Half-Way to Goal

Officially Half-Way to Goal

I've been hitting it pretty hard, but generally don't talk to anyone in my daily life about my weight loss, so I come to places like this to celebrate now, I guess lol.

I've got a long way to go, but it feels good to finally see a major milestone like 50%. Feeling great!

I know they're silly lil things, I like 'em

The little goofy badges you get that put your weight loss in the context of something else are so fun. Little motivational tricks like that typically don't work on me, but I find myself checking the goal progress regularly, especially how as you get closer, it starts to show the image instead of just the "?". I like to try to figure out what comes next. It's good motivation.... It got me to put down this small refrigerator I've apparently been carrying.

Super excited about my meal plan for July and felt like sharing

So unrelated to the whole pescatarian thing I'm currently about 5 months into extended rolling fasting. Since I eat so little every month, I like to try to make sure everything is an event, and I've pre-planned out my dinners for the month of July. I'm really excited about the month and I figured a bunch of pescetarians Would be able to appreciate the diversity of seafood flavors and textures!

Probably the biggest one I'm excited about is number 7. I'm kind of experimenting here but in my head it sounds absolutely phenomenal.

Assuming everything goes to play and I'll see you guys throughout the month of July with follow-up photos :D

Edit: I am always looking for new inspiration or feedback, so please feel free to share if the mood strikes you!

Monthly check-in (Yup, still rolling)

Hey everybody, I'm back again with the monthly report Just a couple of days late because life got in the way. I'm now just a little bit over the 5 month mark of rolling fasts (currently at hour 96 and haven't finished it, which is why the calendar is behind)

I upped my intake and did 5 days of OMAD at the end of May, and WOW did that little break really make me feel great! I felt so much better, stronger and more energized than I have all year. I think there's really something to taking a little focused recovery every now and again. So if you want to be technical, The rolling 72 hour fast streak ended last month, but we started again in June. I choose to still look at it as one big event, And the 72 hour mark was always a little bit misleading since 2/3 of my fasts over this 5 month period have been in excess of 100 hours, And my fasting length average is still well in excess of 72. Always just calling it "rolling 72s" was easier than having to explain and pull up the log every time I talked about it lol

The big takeaway for me this month was how adaptable we are as humans. I genuinely did not realize how run down I was because it was something that I had just been slowly piling on 4 months. When I reset, not only did I feel incredible but it gave me that perspective of really putting what I had been doing so far into context. Got to listen to your body folks!

But, we're back on it regardless. Still feeling great, and making up for lost time. The scale dropped like a rock in the first couple of weeks, I'm assuming just because of all the excess water and food in my gut from eating OMAD for almost a week.

  • I'm happy to report I have hit the next minor milestone of 150 lbs down!
  • I am currently on track to hit my next MAJOR MILESTONE (50% OF FINAL GOAL!) sometime next week most likely.
  • There is now no possible configuration of wearing my pants that allows any portion of the waistband to touch my waist. I haven't really been able to wear them without a belt for months, but there's always been some configuration where they would kinda hang off of me at least while standing still before falling to the ground as soon as I shifted or took a step. They now fit me like a hula hoop.
  • During the reset where I ate OMAD for a few days, my resting heart rate dropped like a rock, over 15 BPM. My heart rate variability (who really knows what that even really means??) TRIPLED. I took this as a sign that my body was under enormous stress, but on the bright side, I now know that it has been the stress of the protocol that has been responsible for my slower than expected drop in RHR.
  • Despite countless armchair physician's insistence that my persistent gout during the last 5 months was because of my pescetarian refeeds: During my 5-day reset, I probably ate more "gout-causing" purine rich food than I had in a month before that, and magically the gout completely disappeared! Turns out that they were in fact, completely wrong, and the extremely rapid weight loss was indeed the culprit. About a month in and it's already back, though definitely diminished...for now.
  • My timeline is still probably at about another 2 to 3 months of the aggressive rolling fasts before I start to taper down, but we'll see.

I want to thank everyone again for all the kind messages and encouragement, As of today, a little bit over 30% of my fat ass has forever vanished from this Earth! I wish everyone out there the best of luck with their fasting. For whatever reason it is that you do it! You guys are awesome!

Monthly Check-In

Coming up on the 30 day mark from my last check-in on the rolling fasts. Originally planned as rolling 72s, I've stretched every fast over the past 30 days, bringing my average up to nearly 140hrs.

Probably going to drop back down a little bit going into the next month in preparation to transition off of the rolling cycle sometime in the next 2-3 months. So far, we're 124 days in, and nearly 135 lbs down. I kind of expected the pace to start to slow down, but my previous 30 day loss was 29.25, and my current is 29.60 so it seems like I'm maintaining pretty well.

With the extended length of fasts, I'm pretty much completely unable to keep the refeeds to a 1 hour window anymore, and have moved to a 2-4 hour window still consisting of the same meal, usually just me taking a lot longer to eat it.

With any luck, I should hit my next major milestone in under 30 days, the halfway mark of my weight loss goal!

Hope everyone out there is having a great time with their goals for fitness/spirituality/ whatever your reasons! Cheers!

As of about 2 hours ago I finished out my 100th day on rolling 72-120s. Feeling great, and planning to keep on keeping on as long as the results are working...

Some observations:

- electrolytes are way more important than I was giving them credit for.

- Just like hunger seems to ebb and flow throughout a fast, it also has a tendency to do the same across the entire rolling fasting cycle. Some 120s were easy peasy, some 72s (The one I'm on now for example) were really hard.

- most aches and pains have vanished (probably has something to do with the weight loss, lol)

- gout seems constant and unavoidable when you're dropping weight this fast unfortunately.

- I'm waaaay more sensitive to what I put in my body now. When I break, I can feel the energy. When I do my electrolyte replenish midway through, I can feel it in a way that's hard to describe, It feels very purposeful, it's quite gratifying.

- when you eat 7-10 meals a month, food tastes so damn good.

- my stomach capacity is a shadow if it's former self.

- officially 112.5 lbs down.

On the docket ahead:

I'm shifting into trying to supplement my meals with protein shakes, I'm having a hard time refeeding in a timely manner. I'm also planning to ease into a little more activity. Here's to another 100 days!

Edit: Oh no I probably should have explained better since I've seen some different interpretations of "rolling" fasts around, my bad.

I fast for 72-120 hours depending how I feel (though there was a stretch where I went a little higher,130s and such, 140 was the longest). I break that fast with a single refeed, the goal is 1 hour, sometimes If I'm having difficulty refeeding, I'll stretch that out to 3-4 hours (had to do that that probably 5-6 times over the course Of the last 100 days), mostly spent staring at the plate nibbling as I go. Then I jump into the next fast.

It's a pretty big meal, but it was a 4-day fast breaker for me...currently wallowing while looking at the half that's left lol.

Worth.

I'm currently finishing up day 95 of my rolling 72-120s. Just looking back on April, physically pretty weak, but mentally and emotionally absolutely peak!
