Transportation

hi there!

I’m staying in cabbage town and was curious on recommended transportation to and from shaky. I was thinking of driving into Georgia (visiting from out of state) that way i’d have my car w/me but would rather fly in. Should I look into renting a car since i’m a bit outside of piedmont? If I were to rent a car would leaving it at a marta station be alright or will i end up on the scoop with a broken windshield? any recommendations would be appreciated!!!

thx!

Payment plan for fall

I received the notification that payments for the fall will resume on July 8th but was curious if anyone is doing the payment plan option? In the past it was done through my college payment plan/workday. The website doesn’t show any information for Fall 2026 only the previous semesters for this year.

Does anyone know if the payment plan will be available on July 8th on the new river portal? I don’t want to miss the cutoff date.

Degree/career input?

Hi there!

I’m 26 (F) and spent the past year working on pre reqs for my local CC radiology tech program. I started to hit a wall, started to realize i wouldn’t feel fulfilled in this career under fluorescent lights, even if the job security and pay is there. I took a break for the summer and will be returning in the fall. I began thinking of pursing something in ecology, biology or overall some type of conservation work. I was born and raised in a small town in Florida and have always had a strong passion for the outdoors here and watching the changes over the years has left knots in my stomach at points.

I stumbled upon forestry and was looking for advice on how to properly pursue this career or any related career. For instance was considering starting an associates in biology as that’s what my CC offers. Due to the state of the economy and funding cuts over the years, how have these factors affected forestry or related careers? I’m located in Florida and discovered UF is the only university in the state that offers a forest resources and conservation major.

At the end of the day i am not looking for a high paying job. Ideally making a minimum of 65k would be ideal but i also work side gigs if additional income is needed. From my understanding jobs in this field are based a bit more on passion and the experience rather than flat out pay. Any advice or direction would be appreciated!

First enclosure <3

Set up my first enclosure! Sanitized the wood via baking in da oven, ordered the little strawberry hide (JCDesigns2423) and skull shelf (nevajaspoods) off etsy, aquarium plants, cork bark and moss purchased from my local pet store and the enclosure is the small treehouse switch w/canopy top from tarantula cribs.

I’m proud of this set up but feel like something is missing… Is it just me? The enclosure is a tad big for this little one (find the spood) but as long as i make sure she can hunt food it should be ok right?

New to motherhood

Hi all! I just picked up this cutie patootie yesterday and I LOVE HER. I ordered additional enclosure items that hang from the sides and top of the enclosure via magnets. I cut up some construction paper to block off the top portion of the container (making sure air holes are not blocked) to give her a bit more privacy until the items arrive.

The one thing i am curious about is when making an enclosure with wood, artificial flowers (searching for some that won’t leak color and be toxic to her), branches and mossy/3d printed items for her to crawl on. How do you keep them from getting mildewy?Considering i plan on spraying water on one wall of her enclosure so she’s hydrated, wouldn’t the small amount of water eventually cause a build up of sorts? I want to make sure her enclosure is fitting for her with proper maintenance.
