Would independent diligence be useful when buying a small SaaS business?

For the last few years, a big part of my job in VC was evaluating internet businesses.

What surprised me was how much of the work wasn’t glamorous investing work. It was gathering scattered evidence: customer reviews, competitor positioning, website history, acquisition channels, traffic estimates, pricing, expert conversations and whatever financial information we could get.

Only after doing that could I form an actual point of view.

I started wondering whether the same process would be useful for people buying smaller SaaS and internet businesses. Deals that are too small to justify traditional diligence, but still large enough to be painful if you get them wrong.

So I built a service that investigates the business and its competitors, pressure-tests the seller’s claims and delivers a cited diligence report within 48 hours.

but I’m genuinely interested in hearing from people who have bought or considered buying a small internet business:

Would a report like this meaningfully affect your decision? What would you need to see in it before you would pay for one?

I am not allowed to share links here, but I would love to DM folks to share what a sample report would look like.

i made this tiny tool to unslop your vibe coded projects

vibe coding was fun… until your AI-generated website started animating like a powerpoint slide.

getmd.design turns any website you admire into a production-ready DESIGN.md, a clean design system spec your agent can build against, with taste and polish. i got a little carried away and pre-generated a library of 100+ DESIGN.md files from brands i love. it’s free, no sign up required and built on Google’s specifications.

Most AI case prep tools felt fake, so I spent months trying to build a better one

I’ve tried a lot of AI case prep tools, and most of them felt like AI slop with no depth.

I thought the idea still had real potential, especially for people who don’t always have a reliable case partner. So I spent the past few months building something that is genuinely useful. I would love some feedback from this group.

I interviewed dozens of friends at MBB, people who had recently gone through the process, and candidates actively preparing. I also iterated through multiple versions of the case experience before landing on the current version.

It’s in a good place now, but I know it can still be much better. That’s why I’d really value feedback from people this group.
