30M / Thinking of moving from a Vanguard Target Retirement Fund to VTI/VOO. Thoughts?
Hey everyone, first time posting here!
I’ve been investing in a Vanguard Target Retirement Fund for about 5-6 years in both my Roth IRA and taxable brokerage account. My uncle originally recommended it when I was younger and just getting started with investing, and it’s honestly been a great way for me to get my feet wet.
Now that I’m 30 and understand investing a little better, I’m considering moving the money into VTI or VOO instead.
I understand that I’d be giving up the bond allocation and some diversification that comes with the target-date fund, but at my age I’m wondering if taking on more risk and going 100% makes more sense for me long term.
Am I thinking about this the right way? Would you stick with the target-date fund, switch to VTI/VOO, or do some combination of the two?
Also, would your answer be different for the Roth IRA vs. the taxable brokerage account?
Appreciate any advice!
