Why a mechanic? From etymonline.com: “from Greek mekhanikos "an engineer," noun use of adjective meaning "full of resources, inventive, ingenious," from mēkhanē "device, tool, machine; contrivance, cunning.” Felt appropriate for our pointy guy. 💚

Hello! I am dipping my toes into the world of filet crochet. I am perhaps a little overambitious and starting with an asymmetrical pattern. Every post I’ve found about asymmetrical patterns says to work the odd numbered rows from right to left, and even numbered from left to right. But…. how am I supposed to do that? I’m right handed, so when I turn my work, I’ll be working from right to left regardless. Here’s a photo of the pattern. (I adapted it from a museum piece.)
