Need a reality check: Buying 1 acre of native land using a 50L Personal Loan (2.5L combined salary)

TL;DR:
- Combined In-hand Salary: 2.5 Lakhs/month (Me: 1.6L, Wife: 90k)
- Existing EMIs: 0
- CIBIL Score: 780
- Goal: Need 50 Lakhs to buy 1 acre of agricultural land in my native village.

The Situation:
I have found a great 1-acre plot back in my native place that I want to purchase. Since it is agricultural land and standard plot loans do not apply to corporate employees, I am planning to fund this entirely through an unsecured Personal Loan. Given our corporate profiles and credit scores, I am targeting a 9.99% interest rate.

The Math:
Even at an excellent rate of 9.99%, taking a 50 Lakh loan over the standard 5-year maximum tenure means the monthly EMI will be around 1.06 Lakhs.

I really want to make this purchase happen, but I want to make sure I am not making a massive financial mistake by taking on this much unsecured debt.

My Questions for the Community:

  1. Will banks actually approve a 50 Lakh personal loan for us? I know our combined income is 2.5L with zero existing debt, but 50L is a huge amount for an unsecured loan. Do private banks easily sanction this much for salaried IT folks, or do they internally cap personal loans at a lower amount regardless of salary?
  2. How does the co-applicant process work for this? If I apply alone on my 1.6L salary, a 1.06L EMI will definitely get rejected because it crosses the standard limits. If I add my wife as a co-applicant, will the bank seamlessly combine our 2.5L income to approve the 50L? Are there any downsides to adding her—will it ruin her chances of getting a separate loan if we need a car later?
  3. Can we truly afford this? Has anyone here taken on an EMI that eats up around 40-45 percent of their combined take-home pay? I plan to aggressively prepay the principal using our annual bonuses to close it early, but a 1.06L EMI every month feels heavy. For those who have done something similar for an illiquid asset like native land, did it choke your lifestyle? Was the stress worth it?

Wedding Photographer Ghosting and Becoming Abusive After Taking Major Advance

Hey everyone,

I am reaching out to u/St_Broseph and the team for some guidance and support regarding an issue with a freelance wedding photographer/studio.

My wedding took place recently, in March 2026. We hired a freelance photographer and have already paid a massive advance of ₹1,65,000 out of the total agreed contract amount of ₹2,15,000.

According to our agreement, the edited photos, traditional videos, and physical albums were supposed to be delivered within a 30-day deadline post-media selection. It has been well past that timeline, and we have received absolutely nothing.

The Current Situation:
Ghosting & Non-Responsiveness: The photographer has completely stopped giving updates on our deliverables.

Abusive Behavior & Defiance: When we call to follow up, he becomes incredibly abusive over the phone. Instead of resolving the issue or giving a timeline, he has openly dared and challenged us to try and take action against him.

Why I am reaching out to the St. Broseph Army:
I am a corporate employee and trying to handle this cleanly, but the vendor's abusive tone, aggressive defiance, and the fear of losing our wedding memories completely are becoming incredibly stressful for my family.

I would be immensely grateful for help with:

  1. Official/Legal Notice Guidance: If anyone from the HQ legal team can help me draft or send a formal notice that might pressure him to hand over our raw/edited media immediately.

  2. Mediation/Ground Support: If the team can help advise on how to deal with this person safely or assist in mediation so he stops the abusive behavior and hands over our deliverables.

Thank you so much in advance for your time and help. 🙏
