My pigeon returned injured

This is kind of an emergency

My pigeon got out yesterday. It happened before, so I wasn't too worried, but he was gone all night and returned an hour ago. He's very exhausted and his belly has caked on blood. It's all dry tho.

I put him back into his crate with his wife, so he can get some rest before I examine him. Is that a good plan?

I don't have a vet near me that is open and takes birds, so I have to wait till tomorrow.

I don't know if anything of what I'm saying makes sense, but I'm super stressed rn

After seeing a couple of wood pigeons the other day, today I had a collared dove visit me. They weren’t as skittish as the woodies. He/She waited in the tree until I put food outside and then came back to get a little snack :) such a cutie
