Nod fragment recovered but nothing happens - stuck at a quest
It should, afaik, trigger Garinol but it doesn't, I keep running around the Monastery and can't progress, am I doomed to loading some old save?

Can I self-promote here? I have a very cool subreddit you're welcome to join our community
I feel that I've deviated from the topic in question so feel free to talk about random stuff too

Recently i got a better PC and got hooked on the 3rd installment. I mostly played TH2 though, for many years. For this reason I'm lacking information about a chunk of the 3rd game; there are, sometimes major, differences that make me confused, reason being me having gotten used to a different playstyle, having formed a different kind of habits, approach to some things and so such.
Today after playing with my sims I was a little confused and I'd like to ask y'all what can be surprising or what actually did surprise you when you first encountered it. -For example: you can only read to bed to a toddler, not to an older kid (child life stage) as you did in 2nd/and after I figured it out I had no idea how to make it happen anyway, the mom just took the baby out of the crib and read sitting down, TIL on reddit that apparently the toddler must be very tired and only then you can do it, when the bar's red or something along the lines * tangent here but why does it have to be this specific? Like when you can't ask your romantic partner to move in with you because they have to deem you friendly first, how was I supposed to figure that out */ tangent over -- one of my offsprings has a virtuoso trait but couldn't get him to play any instruments while this is a norm both in TS 2 (and irl too) -- also reading skill related books, apparently not grown enough to understand (in TS2 children could read everything. In TS3 apparently Bluish Eggs with a Side of Pastrami are not age appropriate but The Murder in Pleasantview or Magnetic Attraction are a must have on every bookshelf in buy mode available freely and without any concerns whether or not they are too small lmao --- not having to bathe toddlers, just change their nappies --- toddlers not throwing tantrums when being left for but a millisecond too long in a crib when they decide to wake up --- being able to potty train on a potty that's already been used and smells bad
They're wasting time in the crib and then when they finally fall asleep their other motives have already gotten down so I have to wake them up to feed and potty train them, all while they're throwing tantrums that they are, indeed, sleepy .
Or do I just have to get used to this kind of system? But I really don't leave them here when they're on 80% energy, usually not more than 40? Should it get even lower?
Also, is it possible to read them TO SLEEP? I did it on the floor after my sim took the baby out
The deceased was to them wife / granny, respectively (one person), dies of old age, husband's heartbroken but what's beneath it? And the boy? Tombstone and what? Bc to me it looks like a dinner pot cover as in restaurants or shown when someone wealthy is dining (also she died eating, but it was from old age). What is this symbol, an urn? Not particularly characteristic, if not for the urn on the floor and a decent degree of critical thinking skill I was able to kinda sorta deduce this might be the case but at a first glance it kinda looked like they were crying because her death ruined their dining plans
Spoilers ahead I guess, also the post's pretty long but tldr's pretty much in the tittle.
So my sim gathered required palladium and then he went on to master gardening skill while his wife studied science in order to clone the fruit. I think I either lost the quest along the way while trying to prepare for the pink heart shaped diamond thing, couldn't find any and I believe i moved elsewhere in the meantime, I mean I wasn't mad I kinda expected that, fruit weren't that much of a problem by the time so just gathered those again. Also I think the game doesn't really warn you that this kind of an opportunity will perish too while you're going to uni or do someting else? I don'tremember exactly, but you know the warning)? I double checked, maybe I'm wrong though, from my understanding it affected only the ones tied to the future and sth else but not that kind but anyway... after that i kept some fruit in my inventory in order not to do exactly the same thing over and over again but then I switched households briefly (I think we're not supposed to do that, either, as to avoid corruption but I don't mind it as much, I'll just paste another copy into a brand new save, it would take too much fun away and I'd get bored anyway.... )BUT I DIGRESS. So after I toyed with other households for a while (offspring of the OGs, not those premade ones) I came back only to discover all of my life fruit were gone so well :)) COLLECTED THEM YET AGAIN But now it seems like I'm forever stuck with the gem thing, it's nowhere to be found, been in catacombs, drilled, have a collector's butterfly as a lifetime reward, made my sim a lvl 8 nerd just so she can get a "good at gathering" trait and after all of that lasting several long real life hours of running around town (marked areas), drilling, checking in elixirs and landgraab consignment stores, mausoleums I'm so tired of this quest, especially that I want to play another household for a moment in order to teach their toddler his live skills and i cannot just because of this pink bad boy that is nowhere to be found. Tried buydebug but the items that are supposed to spread gems disappear as soon as I get them and idk how to use them like omg... also there's an elderly sim refusing to, well, give up already so that i wouldn't have to worry abt this one lol, I dont know what I expect, maybe there are some other tricks (I doubt Imma feel like joining police career just to trigger this another opportunity that is apparently supposed to give me the gem) and if there aren't I just wanted to vent I guess because so much hustle ehhh
Yet when googled, nothing shows up THEY ARE THE SAME, I'd refuse to believe it's a coincidence but then again there's no info, not even a fan wiki page of him so he must be generated very randomly idk, anyone? Am I tripping?
And he tends to put on this uniform every morning and leaves to entertain masses at the connners club I guess. Is there any way I can make him stop doing this? Stop being a mascott please?
