Got to stretch her legs today.

All stock except for Goodyear Wrangler RTs (265/70/18). Turns out she can hang with Taco Pros and a Trailhunter. Only necessary mods from what I can tell are skid plates and sliders. Toyota really hit it out of the park with this platform. This truck is something else man. Always been a track/sports car guy, but after today I don’t see myself ever going back haha.

Should I go for more aggressive tires?

Right now I’m on stock Tacoma TRD Pro wheels. I like the look on the car, but wondering if I should go for some Open Countrys or Wild Peaks. The last two photos are from when I test fitted my buddy’s Rays.

First two photos: Stock TRD Pro tires (265/70)
Second to last photo: Falken Wild Peaks (285)
Last photo: Toyo Open Country (275)

I like the look, but the ride was definitely harsher. Should I upgrade the tires my TRD Pro wheels from a purely aesthetic standpoint?

Moving on from sports cars, want a Toy-yota.

Hi all,

I’m looking for some perspective on choosing my next vehicle. I currently daily a G87 M2, but after recently puncturing my oil cooler and dealing with the constant stress of scraping, I’m over the low-clearance lifestyle. And most of my car buds have families now, quit vaping, and stopped parking outside boba shops with me.

Between the M2 being impractical for my steep driveway (it currently lives on the street) and my desire for a "forever car," I’m ready to switch to something rugged with high clearance.

I’m open to purchasing or leasing, whichever has better incentives. I only drive 5-6k miles a year. I don’t have kids but do have two dogs so bigger cabin space is a nice to have but not a deal breaker.

Was looking at 4Runner TRD Pro and Lexus GX Overtrail+ initially but the markups on them are insane. TRD Pro would be approaching Land Cruiser territory, while the GX is pushing 6 figures.

So as of now I’ve narrowed it down to either a Tacoma TRD Pro or Land Cruiser.

I’ve driven the Land Cruiser a handful of times I really liked it. Has 360 cameras, awesome radar cruise control, and the interior and JBL sound system is decent.

I really like the boxy simple utilitarian design, and I think pairs well with off-road wheels and tires.

As for the Tacoma, I haven’t driven one myself and while I prefer to understated look of the Land Cruiser, the wide fender flares, red suspension, and lifted look is still appealing to me.

Huge bonus is that I can probably get one under sticker, and it still comes with all the tech and creature comforts that the LC has.

Only thing is I’ve never owned a truck before. For those of you who daily a truck, but don’t necessarily need a truck bed, does it become a hassle for regular grocery trips or did it add utility to your lifestyle? I don’t really mountain bike or anything so I literally have no use for a truck bed that I can think of as this time.

I have two brothers that love to go over landing, so that might become a factor. Which would you choose? If I go Land Cruiser I’d be mounting off-road capable wheels and tires anyways so the base wheels on either car would be a non issue.

My ideal choice would be a 4Runner Trailhunter or TRD Pro, but just don’t feel like paying Land Cruiser money for one.

Which would you pick?
