It happened! 3-layer dream sak is ready for some thin scales

So yeah, it was so nice I just had to do it twice.

First peening went well until the middle layer (saw&blade) lost a fair bit of tension and started to droop. Well I moved the pliers to the middle (as u/fullmetalturtle suggested, thanks btw) and it works beautifully. Everything snaps suprisingly well together with only minimal fiddlyness and I didn't need any extra spacers or anything. The space for the long tools was made mostly by filing the liners down a bit and using an extra liner if needed and a standard knife-layer spacer for each.

About the width of a Huntsman and has all my most used tools. Next I'm going to make and glue some thin scales on. I'm thinking of using wood, but am taking suggestions

It's happening! 3-layer dream sak with both saw & file on knife layers with the small knife and combotool.

Both are a bit fiddly atm, don't have the cleanest snaps and can stick to the smaller tools, but with a little more filing and a tight peen everything should hopefully be ok.

I don't mind a bit of fiddlyness in the completed tool if I can have everything I want in such a tight package

It was suprisingly easy and with proper oiling should hopefully be pretty durable too. And now I have a nice smooth scale without the philips/corkscrew notch digging into my fingers.

Has anybody tried to put a file in a 84mm?

I think I can use a knife spring for it and put the opener tool opposite it where the small blade would be, but how much of a hassle would the .3mm difference in pivot size be?

Also, to make things worse I have only 2,0mm brass rods. Is this a wise idea at all?

I have a dream of a 3-layer whittling sak with knifes, saw and file with the opener tool from bantam and reamer, chisel and small flathead in the back layer.

I could mod this easily from a ranger or something, but currently I'm a little obsessed about the idea of fitting the opener tool in there too. I also don't have a straight scsle for the other side without the philips/corkscrew-notch.

Wat do?
