Lightweight Carry with Philosophy

After many years of being into EDC gear, I’ve come to realize that carrying just a few, simple items is more than enough for everyday life.

My philosophy is that EDC is about having something on me to help me out with small daily tasks. It’s not about being prepared for every conceivable eventuality. I have all kinds of proper tools at home if I need to bring them for a certain job. If I’m just walking around town or at work, I don’t need to have pockets full of gear.

That said, this is a fun hobby for everyone to enjoy however they see fit. If you like carrying lots of gear, then go for it! Happy carrying, everyone.

• 100% Cotton Bandana (hand towel, handkerchief, knife cleaner, head/neck cover, etc.)

• Victorinox Cadet Alox (thin, durable and capable).

• Casio MQ24 (slim, cheap, and clean design).

• House Keys/Car Fob (hate the fob, but can’t get around not using it).

Simple carry (as usual). Recently started EDCing a bandana and it’s been so practical for me. A million uses for one and feels comfortable in the pocket. Here’s the setup and why I wear each item.

• Casio F-91W (prefer not to pull my phone out for checking time as I’ll end up getting distracted, plus the vintage look is just awesome. Great cheap watch that lasts forever).

• Cotton Bandana (handkerchief, hand towel, knife cleaner, head cover, etc. So practical to have on me).

• Victorinox Swiss Champ (heavier tool than I typically carry but it’s hard to argue with its functionality and charm). Awesome set of tools in a small package).

• Giant Car Fob (the bane of my EDC existence) and House Key. If not for the fob, my key ring would be insanely compact and lightweight.

• Mitchell Leather Card Case (cc, license, bandaids, antiseptic wipe). Super slim and well made. Bandaids come in handy all the time as I work with my hands all day long and inevitably get minor cuts and scrapes.

I’m experimenting with not carrying a flashlight on me. Sounds so strange because they are incredibly practical, but really I barely ever use one. I “need” it once a day in the morning when leaving for work while it’s still dark out. I can use my phone for that. Love flashlights so much, but do I really, REALLY need one? Only people I know who carry dedicated flashlights are EDC community. Would love to hear some opinions and experiences with ditching the flashlight in your setup.

Got my first Swiss Champ in the mail yesterday. Loving it so far. Since I’m not a belt holster guy, I wanted to find a simple way to carry this little chunker. Usually use the keysmart clips, but not for this one. Currently, it sits vertically in my front pocket next to a folded bandana and has stayed upright and in place all day. Just wanted to share a simple solution to pocket carrying the knife without it turning sideways and being awkward.

Man, some people really are rude on here 😅 Good thing there are still helpful and open-minded folks, too. I cleaned up the liners on my Ranger and I think they look pretty slick! Used a scotch-brite pad to scrub them and remove the manufacturing “defects”.

Curious as to why most of my liners look like this depending on the viewing angle. Can they be addressed, or is it an “it is what it is” situation? Many thanks

Victorinox Cadet + Classic SD (Ultimate pairing would be Cadet with a Jetsetter, but alas..)

Less is more. This is my realistic and minimal every day carry that gets me through life just fine. No tactical bullshit, no firearms with extra mags, no pouches full of wrenches and screwdrivers, just real-life things in my pockets to help me out. Your resourcefulness and ingenuity are more important than any tool you have.

• Olight on a paracord necklace

• Car fob and house key

• Casio F-91W

• Victorinox Recruit

• Allet card wallet (includes a bandaid and antiseptic wipe inside)
