To the scalper I met yesterday at the DC show (and any resellers possibly in this community)...

Yesterday I met a guy while I was chatting and eating ice cream with my friend at the MCR concert. He had a black bandana on and basically bragged about getting pit tickets and being a scalper and how he used his money from scalping tix in NYC to come to the DC show then complained about how DC has laws protecting people from paying inflated prices from resellers!! LIKE DUDE! I think he told from my face and comments that I was uncomfortable with the convo and so he switched to trying to justify being a scalper but I just wanna say to the people reselling tix for inflated prices YOU are part of the problem!! Seriously. Anyways hope everyone else had a great time at the show, it was awesome!!

Columbia Heights drug issues

Ive noticed a recent increase in people in the Columbia heights area that are being affected by fentanyl (or something similar, im not too sure) — one of my friends lives in an apartment by the main plaza and its like every time I visit there is someone OD'ing or ambulances being called to make sure people are even alive because they're not moving. This has been going on for a minute but it seems to be getting worse, is there anything we can do to help these people? is there any organizations in dc that are helping with prevention/safety? It's truly so sad to see and I would love to get involved if anyone knows how to please lmk!

Break ups/GAD

Does anyone here with GAD (general anxiety disorder) feel like going through a break up is the end of the world?? Last December (I know) I broke up with my ex, it was clear we weren't good for each other but since we were in the same friend group I would still see him around and we were still hanging out one on one and hooking up until February, until like a month ago when he started seeing someone new and bringing her around our friend group. I have a therapist and Im trying to not do anything that triggers me to feel anxious (look at his social media, etc) but some days feel I have legitimately no energy and don't want to get out of bed. I have thoughts that I regret breaking up but I know ultimately it was the best so Im just wondering how people deal with rumination and moving on— especially if you have GAD

Dealing with compulsions

Hi everyone! I am curious to learn more about how people deal with their compulsions when they are triggered? I feel like lately some of the ways I try to regulate are not working very well and just generally curious what works for some people? yes ive talked to my therapist about this but I also want to know how other people are handling compulsions when it feels so overwhelming, thank you

READ ALL BEFORE COMMENTING. So for context I saw joost in NYC last year (both shows), Ziggo dome this year, and the NYC and DC show this year. Ive been lucky enough to go to concerts with my mom since I was in middle school and been to all types of shows growing up and I want to say what makes Joost's concerts so "hectic" and "reckless" is mostly on the fans.

NO ONE is telling u to line up outside for 12+ hours and not properly hydrate, eat, and sleep, for a one hour and 30 min show. Thats some of y'alls first issue. Also, no one is forcing u to go in the pit/GA when ur 5 ft tall and x amount of pounds. A lot of people at the shows are young, I get that it may be a lot of folks first show, but I think if your priority is to see the show and be able to enjoy the music aspect, I suggest you buy a seat especially if you are "scared" or worried. GA usually = being in the pit (idk about the other venues but the DC venue has 3 levels and u can go chill almost anywhere except for the seats so that you're NOT in the pit and can avoid the first level if you wish but there was a lot of room in the back.)

I think there is a misunderstanding that when you are in the front-middle of the GA crowd and the mosh pit starts, that means u can just stay in your spot and no one will bother u but in reality it means u should see where the pit is and adjust accordingly (if you can, if you cant, yell at security and tell people around u that u need to get out to the best of your ability). I get thats not always easy, but if losing your spot is more important to you than trying to avoid the mosh pit then you should reevaluate your expectations for the show.

I dont think the fans here understand that coming to wait for 10-12 hours before the show causes so many more issues for both other people attending and the staff. Some of my close friends work at the DC venue and they said they were not prepared to let in all like 3k people who attended when doors opened promptly at 7. Because it's just not very common at that venue. This meant they were understaffed for the rush and not properly prepared because most shows there don't have that issue. (which honestly, it's not their fault, but I know a lot of people here are like under the age of 25 and dont have a lot of life/work experience and thats OK!!).

All of that being said, I'd like to see more people taking accountability. Dont go into the pit if youre worried (this is coming from someone who is 5 ft tall and went to both joost shows in nyc and there were times my feet weren't touching the ground but I communicated with the people next to me and wasn't expecting it to be a calm show). Dont wait for 12 hours for the show and not properly eat and hydrate it's NOT WORTH IT. I know we all want to be in the front and have fun but please prioritize your safety and wellbeing. Also stop all the fear mongering. The NYC venue was passing out water, they were constantly looking into the crowd from the front of the stage. Some of you are acting like there are people looking for people to purposefully beat up at the concert and the venues are purposefully neglecting people, they are not!!! Anyways im not gonna argue with anyone in the comments these are just my observations and advice from someone who's been to a handful of his shows!!

Also want to note that I was at the ziggo dome show and in the mosh pit 90% of time, when they started doing the circle run during Droom Groot I communicated to the people next to me and they helped me get out immediately, when I saw someone fall down, we all rush to pick them up and make sure they were ok. I think unfortunately the sense of community in the us shows are just lacking and some people would prioritize not missing the show for 3 minutes/lose their spot to help someone, and I think thats something I hope we can change for future shows <3 please be safe and consider standing in the back (which most the times u can see better from) if youre worried about being in the pit

EDIT* obviously if theres a crazy person out there purposefully hurting people or if you got hurt for some really crazy circumstance im obviously not saying its your fault I just truly want people to prioritize their safety and wellbeing and stop fear mongering
